Incase you didn't know this season aired at 10PM so that's why it's able to be a bit more dark (i.e. the blood splatter at the beginning)

Cage was Johnny Blaze, Robbie has a car. Also, Robbie's flaming skull doesn't look very human, it's more of a 90s comic book style. I think that means it's not really a skull, it's Hellfire magic, or something like that. Robots are never a good idea in the Whedonverse. :)

I would say the title "The Ghost" has a triple meaning: 1. Daisy/Skye/Quake is called a ghost for being so hard to track down. 2. Ghost Rider 3. the "ghost" that appears when the box is opened

I know you probably know this already, Shan but there have been a few different Ghost Riders over the years. Traditionally they have had bikes but Robbie Reyes has a car and is still pretty new. He first appeared in the comics in 2013, so this show was pretty quick in adapting him. Johnny Blaze, the original comic book Rider had already been done, so I imagine the showrunners just wanted to go a different direction. Also, a flaming head is easier to hide inside a car :D

This season was airing around the same time that Doctor Strange was released. While not tied in directly it was Agents of SHIELD acknowledging the supernatural side of the Marvel Universe.

I envy you going through Season 4 for the first time. Might be my favorite looking back, but then, each season just gets better and better, so who knows. Regardless, you're in for a RIDE!

True about robots. I don’t consider AOS as part of the Whedonverse because the show seems too subpar compared to his other shows and doesn’t come across like Joss is involved at all. To be fair to the show I am only basing this on the first two seasons. I stopped watching because I was waiting for it to reflect the same quality as the other shows done by Joss and it never came close.
