Yes! I was hoping you'd keep reacting to this! As an old fan of this show I'm delighted you enjoy it so much. I agree that you don't really get the sort of wilder style of Nineties sitcoms these days. As a teen I have to admit I totally had a crush on Sally. Anyway, I checked wikipedia and you made a pretty great guess about John Lithgow's age. He was born in October 1945 and these episodes are from early 1996 so he would probably have been fifty when they were filmed.

In the US, in my day at least, Sex Ed was just a fill in class, rather than a full class. And we called it Health Class. It was just a couple of weeks rather than a full class, and was taken out of the PE class time. Hence why it was sometimes taught by the PE coach, which is why it is gender divided here. In my school we did all (boys and girls) go to one teacher, a female, during that time, rather than being taught by the coach as some schools did.

Just loving your reactions to a show you are enjoying so much.

Sex ed is in different classes. In junior high like Tommy, ours was taught to everyone by the school nurse. But in fourth grade, the basic anatomy lesson was done in gym class by a same-sex teacher. I think the thought for that is that, if you have embarrassing questions about something your body does, it won't be in front of people with different sorts of things.

This show is definitely one of my favourite comedies ever. They just don't make them like this anymore. Don't get me wrong I get why, but I enjoy older comedies way more still than any newer. Though there are few more recent british ones that are still funny.

Around fourth grade as I remember the girls were taken into a classroom by all the female teachers and we're taught sex ed. It was in seventh grade I believe when we boys had that class and it was the male gym teacher who was also the football coach who gave us the talk

We were split into boy/girl groups as well except our teacher was our school guidance counselor who happened to be female. It was awkward.
