This show is ending after season 3. I was not cancelled though. The show's creator had a 3 season plan, so they are ending it there. So it will actually have a planned ending (yay!).

That makes me wonder, who's stronger in the comics? Jean Grey or Legion? Does anyone who actually reads them have any insights? I only know they're both omega level mutants.

legion is more powerful the only down side is his mental state you will somewhat understand if you watch all the show. The reason Legion is more powerful because he can do everything Jean can do and everything she can't do cause Legion has over 100 different powers just saying.

The show is a slow burn. Things will start to make more sense with each ep.
