"To Serve Man all over again..." TSM is a famous episode of the original Twilight Zone which was famously spoofed on an early SImpsons Treehouse of Horror.

The first time Jasmine calls her assistant by name is one of the least consequential and best delivered misdirects ever, IMO. I wish I liked Connor more because his final monologue to Cordelia is really well done and explains a lot about the character. Much more than the anecdote about growing up in a hell dimension.

I am kind of loving that skirt/pants combo Jasmine is wearing though. Also people lit shit on fire REAL FAST!

I have a feeling that Connor's time in Qortoth is still affecting him somewhat. Probably on a more subconscious level. It's the only explanation that I can think of for his behavior.

Jasmine had a good idea, a world where everyone gets along. But she went about it the wrong way, brainwashing people into worshipping her. Like Angel said, taking away there choice. The ideal way, in my opinion, would be where people have different opinions, but are still able to get along.

I just put it down to him being terribly written., lol.

There's something quite profound imho about the things Connor confessed in his dialogue with Cordelia at the chapel. About how Jasmine was able to bring 'peace' to everyone but him. What she did to him when she took his hand to 'take away his pain' probably had no effect on him? And the reason why I say that everything he said seemed profound is that it's so much closer to reality than any of the things the Angel Team and other characters on the show talked about. It's like a person going through chronic depression. The pain is so deep and profound and what's sad about his character is that he consistently struggles to find a balance, to find any ounce of understanding with the relationships he's established. I'd say out of all the characters in this series, his is probably the most difficult to portray because he's constantly on edge, always struggling to connect the right pieces together, like trying to fit a square peg into a circle hole or something like that. I know ASR said that she can't quite sympathize with him because it's a character that won't seem to grow into a better one. I think the writers wrote him intentionally to be exactly that. There is always at least one character we come to dislike for whatever reason(s) and sometimes we wish they'd change for the better or that their story arc would evolve into one that we'd finally tolerate. 'Cause I must say that, although I've never been a fan of Connor, not that I truly disliked him, but after this episode, I think he's more relatable and more interesting. 🙂 I dunno why, but he's more interesting here because he's actually trying to find out something that none of the Angel Team knew and he was determined to find out. Oh and he decided to kill Jasmine so... I guess he kind of redeemed himself that way? lol That being said, he's one of those troubled youth that needs serious counselling. I know too well the feeling of never feeling like you belong, never belonging anywhere, never fitting in, never being good enough, never knowing the truth, being used by anyone in order to fulfill THEIR goals but what about yours? Yes, the kid is messed up and maybe he's truly a lost cost but I love how much Angel tried to reason with Connor in the end there.
