This was pretty good for a first episode. I watched this show a long time ago and remember it being very funny once it gets going. Not sure if I watched the full five seasons though.

Ally McBeal began as BtVS began season 2 and The X-Files season 5. It was a fun tv time for me although I think Buffy and Ally were initially on at the exact same time which made watching/recording a little tricky back in the 20th century. The music in this series is pretty great and Vonda Shepard's music is outstanding. According to wikipedia, her album Songs From Ally McBeal was #1 on the Australian music chart in 1998 and certified platinum in the US.

Awesome pick by Jason! It was great seeing your reaction to this and I’m glad you liked it. Ally McBeal is such a quirky and weird show with an almost enchanted feel: a little bit Disney a little bit loony toons a little bit all its own thing. I’ve never watched it straight through, but I’ll randomly get a hankering for an episode or two every year. I’ve probably seen about half the show 2-6 episodes a year for the last 15. It’s the only show along with Absolutely Fabulous that I’ve watched like that. One of these days I’ll just binge the whole thing. Ally her roommate and her boss are my favorites. It does get a little more cartoonish as it goes, and I like that. Can’t watch just one epsiode….so I’m off to watch at least one more…..

I watched it when it Aired. It also added Portia Di Rossi whom I had a crush on so it was doubly good :p. It was a funny quirky semi musical show with lawyering in the background. Vonda Shepard is the woman who sings and does 90% of the music. Had a couple of originals for the show as well. Lastly, Josh Groban made his debut in this show (one or 2 episodes is all) . If you didn't notice, the producer was David. E. Kelly, who also got Josh to fill in for for Andrea Bocelli in practicing with Celene Dion at the Grammys rehearsal.

Yeah Ally and Buffy were on at the same time on Monday nights until Buffy moved to Tuesdays starting with the episode Innocence. We had two TVs so I could tape Ally and also watch Buffy.

I think it was my favourite show for the first several seasons it was on (or joint-favourite with Buffy). Lost me a bit towards the end, but that happens with lots of shows. These days I find angsty love stories a bit irritating, to be honest. :D I did enjoy watching that again though, and your reaction.

Lostmyshoe22

I did watch this when it aired. I forgot how much I enjoyed this show. Thanks for watching it.

HuntingSwan

What a fantastic show! Ally's overactive imagination is hilarious, the law stuff is interesting and the characters are all big as life! I vote for full reaction.

This is one of my favourite shows. Hope you react to more of it.

Ally McBeal is such a great show. And for its time, groundbreaking. Feminism without losing the female sexual empowerment or being militant. And all the inner monologue and random fantasies of how she was feeling. Amazing. I almost wish you get asked for the second ep, because my favourite character in the world gets introduced. He was briefly mentioned by Richard. Also, the credits do end up as normal credits. But in the pilot, none of the characters had been introduced yet, so they were keeping it spoiler free. Also, the actor for my aforementioned favourite character hadn't been cast yet, so there's that..

im not sure on this, might gave it another chance.

I watched it when it aired, and I liked it. It was a mix of many things, and it worked fine, but towards the end either me or the show got lost and therefore I lost interest. And yes, some of the main characters for the main part of the show are yet to be introduced

Yes one of my favourite Tv seres, watched it when it came out, good oll times.

I watched when it originally aired, at the time it was kind of groundbreaking, between it's feminism, the images from Ally's head intertwined with the stories and having a diverse cast. The first few seasons were really good and it won some awards but the last couple of seasons just went off the rails and alienated a lot of viewers. Despite the technology, it holds up pretty well all these years later.

This is my first time watching Ally McBeal. It's one of the "good shows" of that time that I didn't watch because you can't watch everything. It looks pretty good. I'll probably give at least the first season a try.

Jon Dub

I watched it while it aired, at least the first two seasons anyway, and loved it. But it aired at the wrong time for me, after season 2 is when I left school and started earning money, so I stopped watching TV and was going out getting shit faced all the time and I kinda just stopped watching it I think. Might have to pick it up....especially if one of my favourite Youtubers starts reacting to it :)

Nicole Christie

I loved this show when it first aired and I still love it. In fact I just finished rewatching the series a few months ago

Brandon Wiesner

I didn't watch it when it was on air, because I wasn't watching much TV during that time, except of course for Buffy. Seeing it now though, it's definitely quirky enough to make me interested in seeing more. Also, as a paralegal, I understand a lot of the "legalize" they talk in the show, so the logistics make sense to me and they wouldn't have back when the show aired. Another selling point is that it was done by the guy that did Donnie Darko, even though he was also responsible for Southland Tales, which is the worst POS I ever suffered through because SMG was in it. Anyway, I enjoyed the pilot as well.

Thomas Hansen

I watched Ally McBeal for all of the five years it was on the air and always enjoyed it. A great cast with a fairly impressive output considering most of it is written by one writer alone.

UTU49

"I vote for full reaction." Yeah, Shan, I think I would watch if you react to Ally M.

Ally McBeal was such a good show back then. Still enjoy it very much.
