I think what holtz did was truly evil, yes "angelus" killed his family but he knew that angel had a soul and he knew they weren't exactly the same person despite sharing the same body. It was bad enough he stole angels son and turned him against him but he saw connor and angel getting along.. to frame angel for his death was just sadistic.

Brendan O'Connor

Holtz turned Connor into a weapon, which in this case is the perfect weapon against Angel. I was really sad when Lorne said "That's 'Uncle' Filthy Demon" because it makes me wish we saw a tiny Connor call him uncle, but he doesn't see any of them as family

Shouldn't Connor have a british accent haha

Bisibia

LOL truth... Accents have never been a Buffyverse strong suit. Except Wesley... Wesley is perfect.

Claire Eyles

Cheering on the death of killers, or attempted killers I don't think is psychopathic or psychotic, I think it's actually pretty human. Not that in real life I condone things like that, but yeah I think it's normal to at least have a moment where you want someone dead when they've taken, or almost taken someone you care about away.

lol your reaction at the end was priceless

Miah

"Did they have contacts back then?" Wow, lol

FernWithy

That was me, too. And yes, I was in contacts in the mid-80s. They had them earlier, though they didn't get popular until the soft one came out.

Is it bad that through so much of this part of Angel, I'm so distracted by the awfulness of Cordy's hair that I keep losing track of the plot? I am very shallow. But I had to say it. Okay, okay. This is an interesting set-up, and I just feel awful for everyone but Holtz... but most of all for Connor, who lost what would have had a nice childhood with people who loved him, but instead had his whole life stolen and his mind hijacked. (A long time ago, we were talkng about favorite characters, and I mentioned that one of mine was a spoiler. That would be Connor. And I don't care if I'm alone in that. I just feel for the guy.)

David Caine

Hahahaha, don't rethink your life, we are all a little psychotic, psychopathic, and sociopathic inside, cheering on the deaths of all Warrens and Justines of all fiction. lol.

"He moves like his father" Your comment on that got me thinking. My father abandoned my mother and 4 kids when I was 5 years old. I have not spent time with him in 40 years. And yet! I do things like him without his influence. I think some things are born in our DNA. I do move like my father. I stand like him. I am starting to slur/mumble words like he did. It is bizzare. My family and I laugh about it. My point is there are things ingrained in us that don't require the presence of a parent to pick up on it. I think it makes sense he that Conner would move like Angel if he inherited muscle memory from his father's DNA? I am pretty sure I did.

Yes; great storytelling always allows us to re-evaluate ourselves...obviously I turned out perfect; no trace of vanity or...wait...

Groo was a Joss Whedon character, yet he was in good mental health. Weird.

UTU49

Keith Szarabajka plays Holtz. He had a small memorable role in The Dark Knight. He played the police officer who screwed up and ended up with the Joker holding a knife to his throat. Remember the guy who said, "It's my own fault, just shoot him!"? Yeah. Exact same guy like exact same guy.

I was just going to say something very similar about my niece. My mother (her grandmother) died when she was 7 and she barely remembers her, and yet sometime she acts so much like my mother it is frightening. She'll tilt her head or laugh, and it IS my mother. It's not learned behavior, it's genetic.

great reaction.

That's what Holt's plan all along. He knew that vengeance on Angel would have to be different than on Angelus. Knowing full well that his revenge would need to be an act that would affect an immortal human and not just a demon. To turn his son against him would be Holtz's ultimate vengeance on Angel. There is no doubt that the love that Holtz claimed he had developed for Connor was a lie, Holtz lost that part of himself a long time ago after watching his daughter burn in the sun.

Benediction- the utterance or bestowing of a blessing, usually at the end of religious services.

Melazond

Wouldn't just stabbing Holtz in the throat without sucking out his blood create a huge mess that would make it obvious it wasn't a vampire? I know Connor is too emotional at that moment to do any detective work, but still.

I had a similar thought. Two holes in the neck doesn't automatically mean 'vampire'.

Bellatronics

Yup, natural to feel that way in real life, but mostly would not act on it. So fiction is a natural release for those feelings of wanting killers and evil people dead. Warren was an utter slimeball creep. It's fine to want him dead, like most of us did. Even though we might at the same time agree with Buffy that it's not good for Willow's psyche to commit murder and go down the route of revenge.
