OMG! YAY!! I'm pleased for you - watching only part 1 of the Pilot must have been so frustrating! To wait until you have time to do the whole show ( if you wanna) would have been a right pain for you. OK, on with the reaction.

I’m sure everyone reacts a bit differently to hearing their name in movies and tv shows. Although I doubt most people hear it in the same context that I do(I can remember watching the Bill Murray movie “Scrooged” with my 8th grade class on the last day before Christmas break, and they get to the part where he goes on a rant right after he’s changed. I hear the line “I’ve changed! The Jews taught me this great word. SCHMUCK! I was a Schmuck! Now, I’m not a Schmuck!”, and 30 heads all simultaneously turn around and look at me. 🙄 Fortunately I’ve got a good sense of humour about it.

I was named (the spelling specifically) after a TV character, Jarrod Barkley, on an old show called Big Valley, a favorite of my dad's. I don't get to hear my name too often in TV and movies, at least what I watch.

Polar bear! I forgot about the Polar Bear. I’m sure it must be quite a treat to hear someone you have a thing for keep saying your name like that. :D Having not watched the Vampire Diaries - 1st episode only I think? - I find Boone rather ‘whatever’ so far [ he’s probably much more engaging as Damon :) ] - but I do like him challenging Shannon for her supposed spoiled behaviour - maybe she’s spoiled ? We don’t have the full picture yet. I mean, she was sunbathing, but then the bald guy is playing backgammon, and no-one is pulling him up for not being more useful. The character’s I really liked from the first 2 episodes were Kate, Hugo and Sayid. ( um hm, Kate & Sayid - anything to do with them both being extremely gorgeous? :) I did also like their characters so far too, honest.) I kinda like Jack too, I mean he’s helping people, so can’t not, but so far he’s very typical ‘leading male hero’ type. So, a bit cliched & boring. The asian guy is so far being a very controlling dick to his wife. [ Maybe he IS a Wolfram & Hart lawyer :) ] Claire annoys me for thinking her baby must be a boy because it’s kicking and moving about - ????? - hold on, she just got super happy and excited cos that shows the baby is alive. Because a girl baby would just lie there and continue to worry her that they are dead????? People are just so weird about the sex of their baby. This show does give us quite a few questions in the first 2 episodes!

This was such a good show. I kinda lost track of it in or after the third season, because streaming didn't exist yet and the timeslot it aired had another show I preferred watching playing at the same time. I know what you feel about the name thing. My name is old Norse, but in no means common. Yet it became popular a few years back, and now one of my daughters' best friends is named Signe, and I dont know if it's more confusing for me or her 😂

The guy who played Sawyer also had 5 minutes of fame on Angel. He was one of the vamps in the beginning of the pilot episode.

!oh man I forgot how much I loved that song that was playing as they were hiking. I think it was called "Hollywood and vines" for some reason.

Oh and in Dollhouse Tahmoh Penikett kept saying "Melly" and though that's not how you spell my name, it sounds just like mine. It was totally thrilling. People might say "mel" but that doesn't have the same charge!

I noticed she calls common ethnic names "weird" Not everyone is from your country Saeed isn't a "weird" name. It shows what a different world all of us live in, she also said that about Jesus name from The Foster even though Jesus is common Hispanic name. Hopefully the next shows she reacts to can expose her to more diverse set of people that she won't immediately deem as "weird."
