This has been so fun and amusing to watch. Speaking of more period piece vampire shows/Anne Rice - I hope he's following Anne Rice and her son's current journey into adapting the Vampires Chronicles into a television series. I for one am beyond hyped to have that translated correctly onto the screen.

To be honest, I actually would recommend NOT watching Ian's content until you are done with the shows Shan. He doesn't outright spoil anything in them, but they do sometimes have things that are your kind of spoiler. Like a quick cut to 1 second of a later episode to emphasize a point. Or saying something like We will talk more about this when we get to Episode X. Which would tell you episode X continues the theme of the episode he's covering today. I highly recommend his content. It's amazing, but I think in your case, it should wait until you finish watching.

Wooow this rewatch was awesome, really fun. The Passion of the Nerd videos are amazing they make you appreciate Buffy in a different way, Even though I really recommend you to watch them after the end of the show because he put some scenes from latest episodes that are heavy, heavy spoilers.

That's genius. Cuz Shan always says, "I don't UNDERSTAND!", whereas Ian's perspective is to immediately think, "What COULD this mean? How COULD we interpret this?"

Um, ok. Was gonna watch this straight away 2 nights ago, but in the end was too exhausted - well, it was the middle of the night when I noticed it & I was awake with insomnia, but then exhaustion hit and I actually slept. I can never seem to watch/comment on things instantly like others do. Have watched it now! was awesome. Proper comment below.

Ok, so that whole reaction from the 2 of you was fantastic. Shan, I adore your look at Ian when he suggested that Riley has any redeeming qualities, lol. I’m with you on that one :D Couple of comments I loved: [China, 1900. Iconic fanged four scene. Spike leaps over barrel.] ASR: “it’s like the same shot, in Angel. But Angel doesn’t do anything kinda cool like that” POTN :” No he broods. That’s his move. Just stares and looks sullen.” - LOL! ASR: “ I love this choreography here” - instantly before: Spike: “Coulda danced all night with that one”. Buffy: “ You think we’re dancing?”. Spike: “That’s all we’ve ever done” Surprised Ian hasn’t come across the theory about the Chinese slayer’s sword and Spike’s scar before. I’ve come across it tons. Hmm, but then I realise that it’s mostly in fanfic (maybe in some discussion threads?), so guess that Ian’s not a big fanfic reader. There’s a lot of theories & head cannon in fanfic, amongst other things ;) I like the discussion about William’s death scene and expressing pain - I always see it being read in 2 ways. One, he’s a wimp - but I don’t like concepts such as a ‘wimp’ much that’s just macho bullshit :) On the other hand - it’s like - why don’t we ever see anyone else being turned or drained to death showing pain like this?? It must hurt! As he’s being drained though, it always looks to me like that pain turns to ecstasy in his facial expression, which fits with people going to suck houses like Riley for bites, and perhaps the season 3 scene of Angel drinking from Buffy. ASR: on William in his scene declaring love for Cecily “Aw, he’s so cuuute!” One thing I really noticed here, that I hadn’t done quite so specifically before. Because I don’t think I’ve ever watched Fool For Love in this order before, only a few days after watching 6x03 Afterlife. William’s adoring worshipful look on his face in this scene, is very similar to the one on Spike’s face when he sees Buffy is back to life. The look on William’s face is a bit more puppy dog like & naive, but still in general his facial expressions are really adoring and worshipful to the woman he loves. And so are Spike’s. Of course, I know that Spike is an adoring love’s bitch /fool for love, who seems to have a lot of William in him, and challenges the idea put about by the Watcher’s Council to their slayers that a vampire is just a demon in the empty dead body and completely unrelated to the person they were. [Um, Harmony! I think she’s actually the best example that this is a load of bullshit, told so that slayers will slay without struggling with grey areas.] However, seeing the episodes nearly back to back, I just noticed even more how similar the expressions are. Thanks Shan and Ian for this awesome treat. This episode is also one of my faves ( top 3 usually, it always varies a bit).

About Spike's scar. I believe it is addressed in one of the DVD commentaries. I'm familiar with the idea that the sword was special and caused Spike's scar, but I read very little fan fiction (lately).
