Jello really does have bone in it. No joke. Boiled bones... There is more to it than that, but for maximum discomfort I'm gonna act like that's it. Boiled bones.

The push buttons do work at some crosswalks and not at others. Depends where you are.

Oh my god yes, I grew up thinking red bull was made of bull sperm :( LIES

Nick Velasquez

Technically in the states, it’s a pill bug ...but most people would just call it a roly-poly

I cried during the scene when Joyce finds out too, don't worry. Stupid people are people with no feelings haha. Great reaction. :)

Holi117

Eurhj, tearing up again over here lol! I remember this episode used to really creep me out... the thought of something like that slithering all over the ceiling and landing on me, throwing up in my face or whatever! Errrghh lol!

MittenCrab

I won't lie, the middle of this episode dragged. It was like nothing happened. Still, better than the competition.

In some US dialects, it's a potato bug :)

Anonymous

In Arkansas, USA we call them "rolly pollies"

Chaotic Cam

Great reaction! Regarding the lights being on in their house when they're not there, sometime's some people leave lights on in their house when they're away to deter burglars and make people think they're home. Just my two cents, lol. Also, here in the US we call those bugs Potato Bugs or Rolli Polli's. :P

UTU49

I think those bugs are infamous for having a different name in different places. I'm in BC in Canada -- I've heard them called pill bugs, sow bugs, and potato bugs. Recently I learned that some people in the USA call them roly polys. But no matter what you call them, it's helpful to know that pill bugs are made out of bull testicles. :/

I've rewatched this show countless times but I think this is actually only the second time I've seen this episode (it's probably in my bottom 5 episodes). However, that Joyce/Dawn realization scene was really emotional.

Miah

So, no one's gonna talk about how Donnie Pfaster, the creepiest guy ever from the X-files was the army commander?

UTU49

I love that moment between Buffy and Joyce. Probably one of my favourite scenes from both actresses.

Alexis Cardarella

Yeah, this was a little draggy at certain points, but still good parts obviously.. Such emotionally intense scenes <3

Dawn's memories and everyone who know's Dawn.. their memories are synthetic, created by the monks, so they definitely wouldn't have created memories that entail Dawn coming across a mentally ill person/someone in extreme mental duress. Let's say Dawn visited Buffy as a child in Killed By Death.. Perhaps the mental ward was located in a different part of the hospital, and she happened to not come across any of them being admitted or released.

Trivial point, at least here, in the UK, its not uncommon to put some lights on when you go out. Basically so it looks like someones in. We also used to put a radio on for the same reason.

Chaotic Cam

You know, this whole idea has raised several interesting questions for me though, as I've never really thought too much on the fake memories. Like, how far does it go? Just main characters? Every stranger that would have ever interacted with her? But since the memories are fake, in other words they're just memories and none of it actually happened, if Dawn did come across a crazy person in her 'memories' like the hospital, I don't think the crazy person would have reacted because technically she was never there, Dawn herself didn't exist truly at that point.... It's something to think on for sure, LOL.

I care for my 70 year old mother. It's tough because I watch as she is starting to forget things, she tells the same stories over and over, and she gets VERY negative about everything sometimes. I am not comparing that to dementia, I bring it up simply to say Thank You for caring enough to help someone else, and that I get a little bit of what you go through. Always remember, you are making a difference in someone's life, and that is always a good thing.

KiwiJello

I thought it was a dig at Dawn for leaving lights on (teenagers...lol)

Alexis Cardarella

Me too, Felicia! I think they built on Buffy, Joyce, and the gang’s memories. Anyone important in Buffy’s life, and they obviously created new ones for them, as well as people that weren’t important to the gang. Like the people in the school Dawn goes to, for instance. ..I think “crazy person” is a little outdated in terms of calling someone with mental illness that, or someone with (medical) brain malfunction like Joyce. 😬 I get what you’re saying though.

Bisibia

My parents did that... and now I do it too. Sometimes even leave a TV on loud enough to hear outside the front door.

Chaotic Cam

Yeah, that's probably what it was like in regards to who was given memories. And oh, I know, poor choice of words I suppose. I have bipolar disorder myself and other mental illnesses, so I wasn't trying to be offhand or blase (is that the right word? Sleep deprived rn) in any way. It's just you really don't know what the majority of them have, so I just used crazy as a broad term. I call myself crazy too, lol. I do agree that saying mental illness is a better term to use though instead of crazy, as I'm sure not everyone's comfortable with that wording. I'd never say it like that in RL, it's a fictional show though so I tend to be more loose with my wording. ^^

Alexis Cardarella

You’re okay! I suffer from mental illness, too.. I refer to people as crazy all the time, but I’m not referring to their mental illness. It’s innocuous amongst people who understand mental illness, but many people don’t know shit about it and use it in a derogatory way. But I could tell even before you weren’t!

I think you're forgetting how bad the scoobies were at slaying vampires back when buffy wasn't around at the start of season 3. In regards to the comments about the start of this episode. Wait or was it last episode?... I'm suddenly confused... Cause i'm binging a few trying to catch up again.. I dont think Dawn would have memories of people telling her she wasn't real back in earlier seasons because she didn't even exist back then. The people telling her she isn't real, is because she isn't really.. ya know real. But all the memories aren't real either. So there wasn't any 'not-real' Dawn to say these things to back then.
