Some useless trivia. Buffy and Dracula (the actors) were on a Soap Opera together called "All My Children". SMG played Kendall Heart (daughter of Erica Kane). She was the product of rape. She showed up to get revenge on her mother and eventually fell in love with her step-brother, who was played by Dracula. She suggested him for the part of Dracula and Joss hired him.

A slayer turned into a vampire does appear in the canon comics. They are FAR more powerful than a regular vampire.

All of Dracula's powers and quirks (except the being famous and super-flamboyant thing) is taken straight from the novel. For example, he played with the mind of an asylum patient who started eating bugs and small animals. It is actually a pretty clever parody.

In the canonical comics set after the show ends, Dracula and Xander become really good buddies. It's quite cute.

More useless trivia: Freddie Prinze Jr (SMG’s husband) was originally supposed to play Dracula. Then there was a scheduling conflict or something. And omg, your befuddled look at the end!! :)
