“Fresh apple here for my little guy!” Damien returned a few minutes later, a little bowl in one hand and a brightly coloured sippy cup in the other. A bag was hung over his shoulder, something he must have grabbed during the interim. Robbie smiled at him and moved over to let the wolf sit next him, blushing a little as his diaper crinkled again.

“Also made you some little snacks, just to tide us over until dinner” he offered out the bowl “Nothing too sugary, can’t have a kit getting all hyper can we?”

Robbie looked down and saw what was offered. Small slices of cucumber and carrot sticks were arranged neatly next to some dip, all in a bowl that featured characters from the show he’d just been watching. He could recognise their faces on the rim, and his face instantly went red again.

“Damien…”

“Daddy, kiddo” he winked at Robbie, whose eyes briefly lit up “Silly kit calling his Daddy by his first name. Don’t know many toddlers that do that…”

Robbie could barely contain himself “Heh… Daddy… Thank you…” he mumbled around the pacifier.

“Let’s get that adorable paci out hmm?” Damien pulled lightly and let Robbie open his maw, a string of drool coming off it and dribbling off his muzzle.

“Oops!” he chuckled. “Almost forgot to mention this…”

Robbie cocked his head as Damien took the bag and opened its top zipper, slowly revealing the contents. It was a diaper bag, plain and simple. Two diapers were stacked between a bottle of powder, some wipes and some rash cream, but the thing Damien picked out wasn’t related to changing at all.

“Here! Just to make sure you don’t make a mess!”

A huge cotton bib was held out in front of him, a teddy bear with a big smile in the center and the words “Messy Eater” in bright blue above them.

“Yeah it’s a bit cliche to go with this kind of thing, but hey, broad appeal is the best way to get toddlers to do anything I find!” Damien explained as he wrapped the thin string attached to the sides of the cotton garment around Robbies neck. The fox was simply stunned by the sudden new addition to his dress code, a mixture of embarrassment and uncontrollable enjoyment mixing to make him squirm in place.

“Now, open up little guy!”

Robbie obeyed almost involuntarily, his brain nearly kicking in to stop himself before all the feelings of happiness overwhelmed them as a little stick of carrot with a small amount of dip pressed past his teeth and into his waiting maw.

“Such a good boy!” Damien ruffled his head fur, eliciting a little giggle from Robbie “Feeling ok?”

Robbie nodded his head vigorously and opened up again, making an “Ahh” sound to indicate he wanted another.

“Good, here comes a little carrot plane coming into land… wooooosh!”

The snack landed neatly on the foxes tongue and he took it quickly, chewing on the sweet vegetable. Each one had different noises, vehicles and phrases that Damien kept introducing, some of the transport making silly sounds and others a little more traditional. As the last stick was swallowed, Damien put the bowl to one side and offered out his arms.

“Well done kiddo, eating all your veggie snacks! Come here, hug time!”

Robbie had to hold back not to leap straight there, just about managing to shuffle over quickly and embracing the wolf.

“Thank you Daddy”

Damien chuckled “No problem champ, you’re a very good kit”

Robbie blushed and hugged tighter, grasping at the wolf's shoulder blades under his shirt.

“I don’t wanna let go”

The fox could feel a strange sense of desperation building. Emotions he’d not felt in a very long time started to rise to the surface, his eyes starting to water a little. Damien hugged back tightly as well as the kit sniffled.

“It’s ok. You won’t be the first little guy to cry on their first day. Let it out”

Robbie felt himself start to sob. Not because he hurt, not because he wanted out or was scared. He felt the safest he’d ever been, the emotions he had weren’t new, they were always there but could never be released.

Now, in the arms of his neighbor turned Daddy, he let them out.

“I… I…”

“Shhhh…” Damien patted him on the back “Just let them flow. It’s ok, this is a special moment, I know”

Robbie could feel the tears on his cheek, but for once he felt glad they were there. This was everything he’d ever wanted, being provided unconditionally by a friend who understood. His diaper crinkled under him as Damien gave it a quick pat, the thick cotton another feeling that added to the security of the hug.

“Still dry, good kit” he released his arms and took Robbies, lifting them free of the hug with a small amount of difficulty and looking him in the eye “Don’t worry. Emotions like that come and go fast. It’s like the opposite of a panic attack. Just let it wash over you and take a few minutes” he picked up the sippy cup “Have a drink, breathe a little”

Robbie took the beverage and took long gulps from the top, the cold fluid running down his throat and cooling his insides. He felt himself calming as his body reacted to the new feeling, refocusing his brain and giving him some clarity.

“T..thank you…”

Damien smiled “No worries kiddo. Here, your pacifier” he popped it back into the foxes muzzle “Just until dinner.”

Robbie wanted to go back into the hug, but resisted the urge as Damien ruffled his headfur. He stared at the wolf, not sure what to do next as he suckled slowly on the rubber nipple in his maw.

“How about I give you something a little more interesting to play with in the nursery hmm? There’s plenty there and I’m sure you can find something…”

He took Robbies hand before the kit had time to respond, not that he felt a need to. The wolf was giving him an instinctive feeling of safety and authority, something that was slowly building the more that he let himself go. The crinkling of his diaper made him giggle rather than blush as he was taken back to the nursery, each step reminding him of his babyish attire.

“You can take your paci out to have a drink if you need it” Damien reassured the fox “There’s going to be plenty of juice if you need it, so feel free to ask for more”

Robbie took that as an indication that he should take another gulp of juice. He did feel a little dehydrated, perhaps his little cry earlier had dried him out a little. When they reached the nursery and Damien opened it up again, he had drained the whole sippy cup, his muzzle slightly sticky with the sugar of the juice.

“Good boy” Damien gave his bottom another pat, letting him go on ahead “See the toy chest over there, why don’t you pick something out from it?”

Robbie walked over and then crouched down at the little wooden box, the sides covered in jungle creatures, and opened the top up. What greeted him was an array of colors, little plastic toys mixed with plushies, some meant for very young babies and others clearly more designed for older toddlers.

“Anything catch your eye, champ?”

Robbie sifted through the pile of stuff, pushing aside some of the more infantile toys on the top and grabbing a large plastic device covered in buttons.

“I wike…” he blushed as his voice tried and failed to past the pacifier, his muzzle adjusting it slightly to avoid lisping too heavily “I like this one”

Damien sat down in front of him and ruffled his head fur, giving the kit an opportunity to find a good spot to settle. Robbie sat crossed legged, his diaper puffing out between them as he placed the toy in front of him.

“So, give it a little play, don’t be shy”

The fox took a look at the buttons and smiled. Different animals adorned each of them, primary colors contrasting with each one. He ran his hand over the top, feeling a bevel to each of the little faces. With a little trepidation he pressed down on a button with a pig on it.

“OINK!”

The noise was much louder than he’d expected, his hand recoiling away as his heart jumped.

“Whoops, bit of a surprise huh?” Damien chuckled “Sure you’re big enough for it?”

A small pout formed on Robbie's face as he looked back at the wolf, his pacifier stopping in his maw “Yuh!”

He pressed a button with a cow on it, this time prepared for the volume of the noise that he knew was going to follow.

“MOOOOOO!”

He felt a little giggle come to his muzzle, the nostalgia coming freely to his head. He knew this was the simplest of devices, he’d grown up seeing them from childhood to adulthood and they’d never changed. But with one in front of him, with his little side free to begin exploring, it felt right. It felt good.

“Enjoying yourself?”

Robbie nodded and pressed more of the buttons, each one generating more sounds. He started trying to make little tunes, using the different tones of the animals to make it sound like songs from his youth. His smile grew with every second, while Damien looked on with a grin of his own.

Time seemed to vanish as a concept to the fox. He wasn’t worried about that while he was playing with these toys. Why did he need to see a clock, or think about it? Damien was here and taking care of him. The parts of his mind that wanted to settle, that needed that space and safety started to wash over his anxiety, sweeping it away and replacing it with a strange sense of giddiness.

He pulled out simpler toys from the chest, some blocks and plushies, and arranged them in patterns. He could hear Damien’s voice occasionally, but he paid it little heed, only looking up to take another gulp from the sippy cup as the wolf removed his pacifier to give him a drink. What had been something scary to him an hour ago was now a feeling of the most simple and fantastic pleasure.

“Kiddo?”

Robbie looked up at the wolf, his eyes wider and his smile wide. He’d forgotten where he was, what he was even doing to a degree. The last few minutes had faded into a blur, but as he was brought back to reality by the wolf's voice, he simply suckled on his pacifier and awaited the question.

“How are you feeling? You’d stopped talking…” Damien looked just concerned enough to give Robbies head a little kick back to adulthood.

“I… I’m okies” he mumbled around the pacifier “I just… it feels so nice and…”

Damien chuckled “Oh phew” he rubbed the back of his head “Just need to make sure you’re doing ok before I go make dinner. Would you like to stay here in the nursery? It won’t take me long”

Robbie thought for a second. On the one hand, he was enjoying himself thoroughly, so much so that he could already feel himself being dragged back towards the little space the toys had encouraged. On the other hand, being left alone pushed anxiety back into his mind. Damien was one of the key things allowing him to experience this space, and discomfort about him not being around to ensure his safety was slowly closing in around the otherwise satisfying feeling of relaxation.

Leaning back on his padding, the fox took a few seconds to think. He looked down at his diaper, the designs staring back as if reassuring him that the padding was there for him. While he knew it was there to keep things in, the knowledge that he was wearing out helped keep the bad thoughts out. He looked back up at Damien, the wolf's face still in a small, patient smile waiting for him to respond

“I’m gonna stay here”

The wolf stood up, stretching out while looking down at Robbie as his grin widened “Good! If you need me I’m just downstairs ok? If you feel like you need to be big for a bit, just come in and say your safeword”

Robbie nodded taking one of the plush toys from the box and hugging him close “Thanks Daddy”

The wolf chuckled as he walked towards the door, looking back in as he started to close it and leaving it slightly ajar “Oh, and the bathroom is still off limits remember!”

Robbie blushed, his body instinctively responding by telling him that his bladder was now full enough from the juice to make its presence known. He didn’t quite know how to feel about the idea, even if it appealed to the parts of him that had always fantasized about using diapers for their intended purpose. At home in his imagination it was a silly idea, one that had no consequence except to encourage more babyish thoughts. But in reality, he knew that he would have to sit there in it, however absorbent the padding may be. He’d have to ask Damien to change him again, to put him in another of his diapers. Even as the images of that happening made him excited, they made him nervous in equal measure.

He hugged the plush into his chest a little tighter, letting the thoughts travel to their natural place. Damien teasing him, his face blushing as he had to admit to having the accident, the diaper sagging lower and discoloring. He lay down and looked up at the ceiling, still cuddling the toy and trying to move his mind onto a new focus. But the difficulty of doing so was preventing him from relaxing, his mind racing back to the ideas that had now lodged there as his bladder took full advantage to keep reminding him that he needed to go.

Finally, the fox moved onto his knees and spread them out, letting the diaper touch the floor and settle, crinkling into a position where he could feel he had some space to release. He started to slowly breathe in and out, trying to get his muscles to relax. Thirty years of potty training were pushing back, telling him to get up and go to the bathroom rather than just let his bladder let its content flow.

A little dribble came out after a large intake of breath, shocking the fox back to reality. He felt his muscles clench again, as though realizing their error and awaiting a desperate run to the potty. In many ways this just increased Robbies excitement, a feeling of almost naught rebellion was settling in. Not against Damien, but against everything that had kept him from being in these diapers for the years between daycare and today. He smirked as though taking a satisfying revenge and breathed out slowly.

The flow began to start as the fox closed his eyes, the diaper quickly absorbing the initial flood before struggling and allowing more to head towards the middle and back of the padding. The warmth spread around his nethers, each second that passed speeding up the flow until it peaked as the fox reached the end of his breath. He looked down and saw the steadily discoloring front, the fantasies of his imagination coming true before his eyes.

Eventually he felt his bladder empty. The whole process lasted less than ten seconds, but to the fox it had felt like an hour of bliss. He hugged the plush again and lay back down, staring at the ceiling as his mind took in what had just happened.

He’d wet his diaper. Like a kit would.

That statement made him feel like a new person, like something inside him had refreshed and been rekindled. While all the things that had happened before had been encouraged directly by Damien, he’d made the active choice to do this. He could’ve said his safeword, he could’ve used the bathroom like an adult, or even a kid. But instead he’d used the diaper, he’d done what only a toddler would’ve done.

And it felt right. It felt like something he wished he’d had the courage to try at home, to just let himself enjoy without the need for someone like Damien to give him the emotional anchor to do so.

He had to thank the wolf, he thought to himself. He had to say something.

A few more minutes passed before he pulled himself to his feet and looked down at the state of the padding. It was swollen and sagging, pushing his legs apart even further than before. As he waddled towards the door he felt it squish between his thighs, each step making it even more apparent that his accident was there for all to see.

As he reached the kitchen he looked round the inside of the door, watching Damien add some mince to a pan. He could tell the wolf was making spaghetti bolognese, the smell of the tomato sauce and herbs washing over him.

“I can hear ya kiddo, don’t be shy”

Robbie blushed anew as he walked into the room. He wanted to say something, but he couldn’t think of the right words. His muzzle continued to suckle on the pacifier as Damien turned and came over to him, his eyes catching the state of his diaper and widening with surprise.

“Had a little accident huh?” he chuckled “How are you feeling, still alright?”

Robbie nodded. And then, with all the energy he could muster, he pulled the wolf into a hug.

“Thank you. Thank you so much”

The wolf hugged back and rubbed Robbie's back “No problem kiddo. Now, how about you sit down and wait for dinner.”
