Here's an early Christmas present for all those Anbernic RG353P, RG353V and RG353M users out there!

This brings Android 12 to the RK356X SoC along with the usual goodies all of you have come to expect from my builds by now.

For a detailed list of everything please check the changelog below!

How to install: Download and install 7zip on your system, download all attached files into the same folder, extract the file ending with .001 by right-clicking it and choosing "7-Zip -> Extract Here" and finally open README.txt for further instructions.

For those needing root: Magisk is pre-installed in the boot image and can be activated at any point in time by installing the official Magisk APK.

For those needing Google Apps: Enable Magisk and install the LiteGapps Magisk module.

Changelog

  • Initial Android 12 build
  • Added Magisk support
  • Added APT-X & APT-X HD BT codec support
  • Added EXFAT, NTFS, EXT4 & F2FS MicroSD card support
  • Added a XBOX / Nintendo gamepad layout toggle
  • Added a Google Pixel 6 fingerprint (to silence GMS)
  • Bypassed Safety Net via a framework patch (to silence GMS)
  • Added widevine L3 support (for VOD streaming services)
  • Switched to the skiavk renderer (we have Vulkan, might as well use it)
  • Marked the internal gamepad as external (fixes Game Pass)
  • Improved the internal gamepad code to more accurately emulate a XBOX gamepad (ups the chances of the latest Dead Cells version picking up on the gamepad, its still pretty random though... older Dead Cells builds always work though, strange...)
  • Fixed some WiFi HAL drop issues
  • Ported the touchscreen mapper
  • Gamepad buttons no longer wake the device
  • Tweaked the RAM, CPU & GPU clocks (to squeeze out a little bit more)
  • Disabled ZRAM swap file (we can't afford the overhead on this CPU)
  • Enabled dark mode by default
  • Enabled gesture navigation by default
  • Bundled Daijisho & Single App Starter launchers

I was so disappointed that my retroarch couldn't run the SD cards Or everything I launched launchbox it crashed?

Anonymous

Any chance we will see the v2 display driver for the 353v make its way into a build?

Anonymous

Yeah it's pretty disappointing there's no warning at all, or no response here. And I use ArkOS and it's great, but the factory android is slow and bloated. Which is why I paid for this slim version in the first place.

Anonymous

This bricked my RG353V

Anonymous

well, for me it's working great, the USB-C sound is greatly improved, no more need for the noise P2 sound, other than that I didn't used that much the original Android, so can't say anything, will install playstore and play some games I have purchased, for now, thank you.

Has anyone figured out how to use the F-key as a home button rather than a mapper? thanks you!

I imaged an SD card using Balena Etcher, inserted it into my RG353M and then turned on the device, after it installed the update and then asked me to remove the sd card, which I then did, it just gets stuck on the Anbernic Logo. Pls Help

I am having problems with my RG353M as well--it's all blank screen. Can we have access to the previous versions? They might work instead of this latest one.

Anonymous

I imaged to SD using Rufus, and I think I bricked the Android side of my RG353V. It was just a black screen and didn't show anything else. It's also difficult to boot from SD card, and takes several attempts to load ArkOS

Anonymous

no update yet?

Anonymous

Just donated my $10 to brick my new 353v. Fantastic. Wish there was a warning....I must have the "v2" people are commenting on.

Anonymous

I just put the SD card and now my screen is black....what the hell? Did I broke my RG353V?

Anonymous

Super bummed there was no update to content (other then comments) covering v2 incompatability :(

Anonymous

Bad investment. Took my money to brick my device. Black screen for $10.

Anonymous

Has the dev even commented on the v2 issue? Is there even a fix in the works?

Anonymous

I was fortunate and was able to purchase a V1 RG353M. But how can you tell the difference between a V1 device and a V2 device *before* you attempt to flash the device?

Anonymous

Black screen for 10 dollars...thank you man, you did a great job

Anonymous

Hi y'all, if you're coming here from Retro Gaming Corps' video (or wherever you heard about this) and you get the black screen, please go back and leave a comment warning others about the glitch before they spend the $10 to get this cfw. So far Black Seraph has not communicated anything about whether there is a fix in the works or if they even know about the problem so it's up to the community to help each other out. Please try to keep it polite and only state facts, BS has done a lot of other things for the community and turning this into a witch hunt will do more harm to the community than good in the long run.

damn i just got the membership for this and there's a glitch!!!!!!

Anonymous

so does this not work anymore? i have tried this twice now black screen first time then went back to stock tried again same thing...

Anonymous

It would be really kind and nice of you to update on this project. Keep my fingers crossed and wish for your prompt reply. :)

Anonymous

Thank you very much for the NON-WORKING project

Anonymous

10$ for nothing... It's not working, just destroying your Andriod...

Anonymous

I tried to install but it didn't install and bricked the android side, but the linux side still works

Anonymous

if I had a 405 or 552 I’m sure I’d be super happy

Other RG353M with black screen here, please share original Retro Game Corps version AOSP-12-20221203-UNOFFICIAL-RG353-SDFlash.7z because last version doesn't work. EDIT 17/10/2023: All cleared up, this version of Android only brings support for the screen of the first version of the RG353M. I have tested it with a first generation RG353M (v1), it works correctly on this one, on another "new" RG353M (v2) the black screen problem happens. I guess the problem in the P and V versions is the same. Here's a tutorial on Reddit on how to check which screen version (v1 or v2) you have.

after install how do i get the f button to load the linux from the tf1 slot it seem to not work

So I just wasted $10 to get a non functioning update? I've re flashed to stock and am now running ArkOS just fine

Anonymous

When I download and unzip them they are ARKOs files... NOT Android 12

Anonymous

I followed the instructions on for my RG353V but the screen stay black and nothing happens (I only have the SD card with the image on it with Belenaechter on MAC OSX). Could it be flashing the image on the SD card is not working when done on a MAC?

Anonymous

Thanks for taking my money and bricking my device dickhead

Anonymous

for anyone about to download this don't bother get a different cfw

Anonymous

I installed it, but my machine is completely broken

Anonymous

for those running into issues like a black screen too you have to flash lynix onto a new sd card then do the same process you did to flash android 12, from there it'll read off the card, and u can get everything back, but you can't press the rest button next to the power button, for some reason it messes everything up. if you do however, go into system resque and rest it, it will make your games playable again

Anonymous

i forgot to mention, forget using the dual os system if you have a black screen after, i haven't been able to find a fix for android it yet, and its practialy unuseable and im 12-14 hours new into tryina find out why

Unfortunately, we have all been scammed

From Retro Game Corps, "** Update: Anbernic released a "v2" of the RG353V, with a different screen, which is not compatible with this Android update. If you buy a recent version of this device, it is likely a "v2" unit. **" Please do some research, ppl...

Love to violate the GPL and get a non functioning OS.
