Netflix & chill? ;)

Newcomers: Please refer to the Beta #1 post for a visual installation guide or follow the included README.txt in the SPFlash package to-the-letter.

Existing users: Reboot into the recovery and install the TWRP package as usual to upgrade.

Changelog

  • Fixed the idle battery drain for good now
  • CPU control option was removed (it didn't work right on Oreo)
  • Fixed the CTS fingerprint (now you can download Netflix if you install Magisk)

How to get Netflix (and other previously missing apps)

  • Install the latest ROM update
  • Install the latest OpenGapps 8.1 arm64 pico bundle (if you haven't already)
  • Install the latest Magisk bundle (if you haven't already)
  • Reboot back into the ROM
  • Go into Settings -> Apps & notifications -> Google Play Store -> Storage and click on the "CLEAR DATA" button, confirm your selection by pressing the "OK" button
  • Reboot the device
  • Netflix (and a bunch of other previously missing apps) will now be available for download in the Google Play Store

Known issues

  • Audio plays through the device speakers / wired headphones while connected via HDMI
  • Security patch always shows as March 2019 (it's a side-effect of the CTS fingerprint fix required for Netflix)
  • The WiFi driver doesn't force-disable itself like Nougat did on lid close (this is a wanted behavior, but people have gotten used to it being force-disabled on Nougat so I mention it here)

Neat, much appreciated, its wasn't a big thing but it was a bummer for me, as I use my XD+ almost daily. Now does this fix also include the HD certificate for Netflix?

NVM still SD, maybe one day thou ;). One very small issue that I noticed is that Netflix from the play store is stuck in portrait mode, thou only in menus videos play normally in landscape. Sadly the apk from netflix site still doesn't work, same issue this device isn't supported.

So Im having a issue since the update, I cant seem to unlock the device. It lets me put in my password, then it just goes back to the lock screen. I tried reinstalling the update, restarting. I shut off with the power button, nothing seems to help.

That's odd. Can't say I've ever seen such a thing. You can remove the lock screen via TWRP though. Just Google for it.
