The last few weeks were of the extra busy kind (that kind that tends to throw a wrench into the machine that is my Patreon schedule), but thankfully I'm now off work and ready to allocate some time towards other things than my day-job.

I intend to start this holiday off by taking a few days off first to celebrate Christmas and New-Years with my family before throwing myself into a few Patreon crunch-days (nights).

Coffee & Pepsi Max, here I come...

My guess is that those will be in early January, but who knows, it could be sooner.

On other news: Thanks to a hint coming from our community favorite (and retired developer) skelton, there's plenty of work waiting for me in the near future which (hopefully) will pan out to be quite rewarding for the GPD community.

I will tell you more about this at a later point in time though (as I'm still evaluating the material I've been handed).

With that said, I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I'll see you all in 2020!

Hey Blackie hope you had great Christmas and New years, but if I could trouble with making sense as to what happened with my XD+, recently I was playing a PS1 game with ePSXe and suddenly the screen went black with the text "android" flashing, after a few seconds it went into the home screen, but now I'm missing a few apps/games, they're not deleted just shortcuts are gone, and now on reboot it shows that "android" text after the GPD logo I don't recall it being there, thou I could be wrong. One thing I can add is that I'm using the adaptable storage with my 512gb SD card. And this is the first time this happened.

The Android boot logo has been there since the first 2.0 release, so yeah, that's fine. Disappearing shortcuts are a known issue with adaptable storage on slow SD cards. The launcher checks whether an application exists on boot, and if it can't find it it will remove all shortcuts and widgets that link to it. When you use a slow SD card you can run into a situation where the launcher start code executes before the SD card is ready. When that happens you'll find that all (or some) apps haven't been registered with Android yet, and the launcher will (falsely) assume the app was deleted and remove it's shortcut. This has been (and still is) a well known issue with adaptable storage on Android. Even on Android 10.

Hey Blackie it's been awhile, how have you been? projects moving along nicely I hope, anyway I was wondering if you could help with a little issue with storage on the XD+, im using my 512GB microsd as a internal memory mainly due to the 32GB internal memory not being enough theses days, the issue with it is thou if i connect it to PC it doesn't show all the files or available space, it shows the card with correct total space. Cheers.

Hey there. Things have been busy as always. Mostly because real-life work is currently overwhelming me. This is why the latest CleanROM update is late and why the impromptu Max 3 update to Ten isn't out yet. As for your issue, it's most likely because the media scanner didn't pick up on your new files yet. When that's the case a manual media scan trigger usually helps. Just search the play store for Media Scanner and you'll find a lot of applications that allow you to force trigger the media scanner. Sadly... Android refuses to show you files via USB that haven't been scanned by said scanner previously. This issue has been a thing since Android dropped mass storage support somewhere back in Honeycomb.

Hi, could you give me an email-address where I can contact you about a business inquiry?

Hey man, hope you're keeping well in these weird times? It's been a while, any progress made with Android 9? Cheers :)

Weird doesn't even come close to describing it. Just spent my day off being called in for work anyway and am stuck supervising the annual finals at a partnered university next week (next to normal work of course). The one thing I'm not understanding is... Shouldn't everything slow down a little with the whole virus situation at hand? Instead things seem to just pick up more pace. As for Android 9, I'm more or less back at the drawing board. If I leave some components broken (as in, don't resolve their library linkage issues), the thing boots but is otherwise quite useless (no 3D stuff working, WiFi dead, etc), but if I resolve the linkage issues I run into a weird set of segfaults that loop endlessly on boot (getting me stuck at the bootanimation as a result).

Thanks for the update, I blame Covid-19 or 5G ... or both!! ;) Stay safe bro.

Don't get me started on 5g. Some maniacs burned some towers down in Germany because of that odd theory.

Its been a while wondering if you are still working on cleanrom for GPD XD also is my request of being able to remap buttons/swap a+b and x+y buttons with eachother still on the cards? Thanks and hope you are doing well in these tough times.

blackseraph

I do, but things have slowed down a lot because things are busy at my day job. And yes, the feature is still on the road map.

Peter

Hope you're safe and sound somewhere!

Due to the COVID-19 situation my branch of the family is currently isolated from the rest to prevent potential spread, other than that though everything is fine, albeit very busy, here. The company I'm working for is currently undergoing a lot of internal changes to ensure we aren't losing too many customers during this crisis. I hope you'll stay safe as well.

Hello sir, can't wait for your next release of Cleanrom, I'm still on 2.0.8 and I'm wondering if I should upgrade to 2.1.1.0 or wait, and if so, would I still have the Lean launcher? Or only the Leanback launcher? Which looks awesome but the dual launcher choice would be best. Thanks for all your hard work and I understand why things have slowed as C19 has made life pretty crazy.

I'd suggest waiting a little longer. I'm currently wrapping up a new treble-based Oreo build for XD+. As part of that update a full wipe will be necessary.
