With my (dayjob) boss squeezing overtime hour after overtime hour out of me I've found myself at a constant lack of time (for Patreon) over this last month.

As such, things have been moving slower than they should lately... given I only had about 2-3 days to actively work on things, but don't worry, there's been enough movement to warrant wrapping it all up into a fancy newsletter.

Over the last few weeks I've spent most of my spare time porting over Android 9.0 Pie to our GPD XD+ (along with Project Treble), but its a long multi-step process which consumes quite a lot of time (mostly spent in debugging issues).

Originally I had hoped to show you guys some more visual goodies, like the Android Pie "About Tablet" screen or something, but sadly, some HAL-related issues are still holding me back.

Due to this you guys have to settle with the patched XD+'s fdisk partition output for now, showing the freshly patched in (and populated) /vendor partition.

Long story short, I'm making good progress with getting our XD+ some badly needed Android upgrades!

I hope that by this time next month I will have some more visual updates to show for the less technically inclined people!

And that's it for now.

But before ending this newsletter, I want to use this chance to thank all of you for your continued support!

Great things are happening here, and all of this is made possible by the contributions you guys are so graciously providing!

As always: I'll keep you posted!

The move to project treble is probably the most important change to keep our gpd xds from meeting an early death from loack of software support. I'm really interested in how you're going about this change to support treble, any technical doc's you are referring to that are helping you? Happy I decided to join your patreon as this is one of the best devices on the market for broad mobile gaming. But these Chinese devices usually die off pretty quickly from lack of oem support, bug ridden blobs, etc. Can't wait for more news!

Will Android 9 help with the HDMI problems on the GPD XD+? When I connect mine to my LG Oled 4K tv, the TV recognizes a signal but gives a black screen. A real pitty...

My crystal ball tells me... Maybe... Serious talk though: it's hard to tell this early what other boons are waiting for us on the other side (other than the obvious Android upgrade itself). Let's take this one step at a time.
