Newsletter #5 - December 2018 (Patreon)

Today I've come to all of you wearing my fake Santa beard and hat to deliver you yet another one of my monthly newsletters.
Since the last time we've been exchanging virtual letters a lot has moved, although not exactly on the frontiers that I wanted to make progress on.
The Manga Reader for Nintendo Switch is still caught in Limbo due to the HTTPS/SSL bug in libnx, which infuriates me, given the fact that the application is essentially ready for release, but held back by a bug that is outside of its scope.
This means, until libnx manages to fix the HTTPS/SSL bug, this project will probably remain frozen in time, waiting for the promised day where HTTPS access on Switch gets fixed.
This is of course just a half-truth, given that I spend quite a lot of my own time debugging this issue (in the hopes of finding a fix myself) whenever time allows me to. But so far... my endeavor has not borne fruit yet.
Due to this I've decided to once again steer my work in another direction, as I've found that my work for the GPD XD+ was in need of a revisit.
It's been some time since the last release of CleanROM, and ever since then my Discord-buddy PsyOps has been acting as my de-facto community manager of sorts, gathering all kinds of bug-reports and user-wishes for me, which I've decided to, one at a time, work on.
So far I've managed to fix several critical bugs in CleanROM (and its accompanying TWRP build) as well as implement a variety of most-wanted features into the ROM.
I was initially aiming at Christmas for a release date of the revised CleanROM revision, but given that my boss at my day-job decided to drop a last-minute workload on me that will keep me occupied all the way until the 23rd of December I really doubt I can hit that mark.
Given how fast I've been moving through the ToDo-list however, I'm fairly sure I can deliver somewhere between Christmas and New-Years-Eve, which means there should be something under the tree for my fellow GPDers out there sometime soon.
Until then, take care everyone, keep on supporting the cause and keep an eye out for new releases!
