We've seen this lab back at the end of season 8, same with the crystal too. So either this Eddie "Malcom" created the crystal, or the Negative Speedforce create everything? Like my theory is it's creating the perfect avatar. Using Eddie, Joe's house, the lightning. The perfect negative half to Barry.

They say that statistically every person has roughly 6 lookalikes just kinda out there in the world. Maybe this is just a random dude named Malcolm and this is all a big coincidence

Unless he is from a different Earth, it be Crisis-related. So we saw that after Crisis some of the characters like Quentin Lance and Tommy Merlyn being brought back to life and Emiko Queen, who was also brought back to life, seemly have a different life. The other we saw that a lot of characters not remembering the Crisis event and things that happen before it until J'onn J'onzz open/unlocked their memory. So what if the Negative-Speed Force is using the file as a way to unlock "Eddie" memory of his other life. But unlike the others, this is something that he will have to figured out.

It would be cool if he was from an alternate timeline where he didn't die or something like that, maybe that's why he was in Joe's house because he is living with Iris.

I don't know the flash is confusing, Eobard always comes back why not his great-great grandfather but I like that he is back

My idea is that it's probably some type of alternate reality type of situation or maybe even a time displaced thing like what happened to Eobard or... it's something else.

I think he’s from another earth as a fresh remix on the Cobalt Blue, which is why he doesn’t know the name Eddie Thawne and was in what we know as the “West house”, because in his world it’s not the West house. I’m not sure why what I’m assuming was the negative speed force or someone manipulating it sent that file from our world to try to provoke something, but I don’t think he’s our Eddie that didn’t die or lost memories or anything like that because that would completely undo the results of S1 Thawne being “wiped” and opening the singularity. He has to be fully dead for that to happen. Maybe they want him to take on that purpose and identity for himself even though that wasn’t him.

One of my theories is he could be an alternate Crisis version of Eddie, I know the name Malcolm Gilmore from the comics but I don’t think they’ll follow his comic storyline for Cobalt Blue!

Honestly, no clue. But there is a thought, so hear me out. So everyone's saying that he'll be Cobalt Blue, especially since there were the added blue effects in his scenes. Now sure that's cool and all, and it'd be awesome to see that character in this show, but you know who else is cool, and awesome, and contains a trace element of.. blue? That's right, Aaron. BEEBO! I have spoken.
