I’ll go with they fought his clone. He’s still alive somewhere else. Do you guys think the dark saber is really gone?

With the live action reveal of Huyang in the Ahsoka series, and at some point all of these shows crossing over, there remains the possibility that Huyang will rebuild the Darksaber for Bo. I feel that Gideon probably died here, I just felt that it was cheapened considering Season 2 & part of 3 was setting up his clones, for them to be ended at the press of a button by Din. Original Gideon himself could still be alive, his armor could have saved him - considering we didn't see his body, given it's a TV14-rated show there's still possibility that he survived. I always use the rule of thumb, if you don't see their body - they're probably still alive. Never know, next season could open with Gideon at the bottom of that pit of his base.

He's dead. And just like in the Legends continuity, if Lucasfilm wants to do more with a dead character, they can always have a clone them elsewhere. Just ask Sate Pestage.

Sean

He should be dead at this point but "no one ever really dies" so... They'll pull a Chewbacca or C3P0 switcheroo and bring him back. More Giancarlo is great, but they really need to kill characters every now and then.

Skeletor

Why have him stay alive to only be killed later by Thrawn anyways. End him because he should been dead 2 times. Not killing him where Mando s are professional killers seems dumb. You Have Kane as someone to carry on for him as a villain still.

I feel like they’ll use Gideon as a test to see if project necromancer will work before they try to bring back palpatine.

I think Gideon will return in one of three ways: A) Gideon Prime lives, and used his clone as a decoy while he was off elsewhere, possibly with Thrawn monitoring the Mandalorians retaking their planet to gauge their capabilities now that the clans are united under Bo-Katan (with noticeably unique fighters like Din and Grogu on their side). This one likely would be used as bait by Thrawn, but (unbeknownst to Gideon) as an acceptable loss. Like, baiting Mando/Ahsoka/Bo-Katan/etc into chasing down Gideon on some Imperial Remnant moon base, then just orbital striking it and Gideon in an attempt to wipe some dangerous players off the board. If this Gideon survived Mando S3, I feel he has to die by Thrawn's hand (otherwise it just feels like a pointless fake-out for him to seemingly be defeated three season finales in a row just to be killed off twice in a row). B) Gideon Prime was incinerated. One of his clones (probably the one who awakened in the tank) survived but suffered side effects from the incomplete process. Possibly similar to how The Master in the End of Time (Doctor Who) was brought back with severe mental and physical issues because the process was sabotaged. I think this Gideon would be disguised as a Dark Sider of sorts, maybe as an "Inquisitor" lurking in the background of Mando and Grogu's escapades like a typical mysterious nemesis. This Gideon clone would also likely be used as a pawn by Thrawn to bait the Mandalorians (due to the speculated return of Gideon) but also Ahsoka and the Spectres (due to a Force User running amok seemingly for the Imperial Remnant) into a typical Thrawn trap. This one could die by one of the heroes defeating him (imagine Grogu's first "Jedi" kill of a Dark Sider was a Gideon Clone Inquisitor?), Thrawn sacrificing him in a power play, or him potentially losing his mind (as Eric mentioned tends to happen to Force Clones) and escaping elsewhere for future content. C) Clones were all wiped out, Gideon was crisped up nicely by the blast. BUT, he survives. Gideon was repping a Maul aesthetic with his colour scheme and fascination with controlling all things Mandalorian, but now he's going to be pulling off the most authentic Darth Vader impression this side of Robot Chicken. Severe burns, inability to do much without extensive robotics and tools, I could see Gideon returning as a mini-boss orchestrating a smaller part of Thrawn's overall scheme, but in a more pitiful and or deformed state thanks to the explosion on Mandalore.

I hope he doesn't come back, my suspension of disbelief has already been stretched far enough with star wars too afraid to permakill anyone

There’s no way they would set up force sensitive clones and not have anything come of it. I hope this leads to Starkiller.

I think they're pretty much through with Gideon as the big bad. The next big bad will be thrawn in the ahsoka series. When they closed the mandalorian series they went to great pains to tie up pretty much all the loose ends. It was almost as if there was no mandalorian season 4 coming, and they wanted to close it out properly, which is possible with the way the naysayers complained throughout the entire series. They complained about Obi-Wan, they complained about mandalorian, and they will complain about ahsoka even though it hasn't begun yet.

Joe

Man this show is mediocre.

They can't ask Giancarlo to come back and get slapped around a third time. That would be a waste of his haunting eye contact.
