I grew up on Clone Wars, but a battle droid, especially in live action, doesn't sound right with a comedic voice. The robotic voice meant for LITERAL robots fits better in my opinion...

It depends on the setting. Normally I prefer the battle droids with personality however if the setting is a scifi dystopian setting, it may not work. In a show like Andor, battle droids with a lot of personality might feel out of place and undercut the serious tone of the series.

The Battle droids for the most part were always comedic, I've always felt like that was their default mode

Deadpool

Robots should act like robots

I sort of want it in the middle, I like the personalities but not always the comedic aspects of it. They don’t need to be emotionless, but they also shouldn’t be over the top. So I voted for neither option.

Eric, this was a dumb poll, of course we want more personality. 😆

Jennifer Medicus

All I wanted was Roger, Roger. Who's Roger?

The real question is...if you could pick any celebrity to be the voice, who would you pick? Danny Devito seems to be the obvious answer lol

I love the comedic. it also makes a little sense since they are not controlled by a central command ship anymore

One word “WHYYYY!!!”

Campy droids give me life. I understand wanting gravity or menace, but droids can be such an injection of vibrancy into the story. Even in Andor, B2EMO is such a wonderful character who is an emotional flashpoint for the audience.

I didn't like the comedic version when The Clone Wars show began, but got used to it and now prefer it.

"Ohhhh Nooooo!!!" Give me all the laughs 😂

Star Wars goons work best as facelessly evil, but occasionally humanized; battle droids complaining about work conditions and bickering, stormtroopers talking about their equipment, etc

I love the goofy and expressive droids, although I do sometimes think about the existential terror of being killed by a B-1 while it bumblefucks around and cracks jokes.

I never once laughed at Clone Wars b-1s. They tried too hard to be funny. It’s funnier when they’re emotionless and then get cut down like the b-1 that told Qui-Gon “You’re under arrest!”

Their whole purpose of existence in Star Wars is to be ridiculous. While I'd love to see an episode where they're legitimately terrifying, that's because it would be unexpected and not the way they're supposed to be.

I feel like it was not a great leap of logic for Gideon to think that the first thing the Mandalorians would do in trying to retake their homeworld was to go to the Great Forge. Especially since he knows one of the the big factions at play are basically fundamentalists. He probably built his base in/near there for that exact reason. So I don't think this is a spy situation. Perhaps more Gideon predicting his enemies' actions based on his knowledge of culture.
