Tuesday update - I'm back! (Patreon)

So how have you all been? I took a short trip last week, which is why there wasn't an update. But I'm back and fully refreshed! And what a perfect time to return as well. Suddenly the sun is shining, Akabur released a new update of his game and I find a new story to get completely engrossed by. More on this later!

The game

What? You thought that I didn't work on my game during my trip? I actually took my work with me abroad (which granted... might make me a workaholic)  and managed to make some great progress, but also had to take a good hard look at what was already there and....

Okay, not gonna sugarcoat it. A large chunk of code that I've been working on for weeks, didn't pay off in the end. I tried adding a third-person shooter element to the game, but it was neither elegant to code, nor was it all that much fun. Plus, for those who've seen the show, the spies don't use guns. So any way you look at it, it simply wasn't working out. During my trip I decided to cut it.

And with that, I decided to re-write the code that was already there, making it 'much' more elegant and easier to understand. Not only that, but moving from cover to cover will now zoom the screen in as well. Something that was impossible in the previous build. 

Art

As before, my main artist is taking some time to deal with personal issues, so there's no new character model art yet. I did get a new background from kinkymation though, so I can show that one off!

Reading

So I'm trying to read more. I was big into reading when I was a kid and the Harry Potter books came out, but eventually lost my passion and got hooked on video games instead. What I didn't expect to be reading however, was a manga. I'm currently reading my first ever manga (which also got an anime adaptation) and it is.... basically it's a soapseries.

It's called Domestic Girlfriend and it's about a guy who basically falls in love with his teacher who also happens to be his stepsister (Oooh Japan, you're at it again!). Honestly, the plot is much more nicely summarized by this guy. Link 

The thing is.... I can't stop reading it. It's not super highbrow or anything, but the characters are all likable and I'm rooting for all of them. Even if rooting for one, means the emotional destruction for another! I'm so conflicted!
