320 - Birthdays And Gumroad. (Patreon)

Hello there, bros. How is everyone doing? Ready for another Monday post? Here it comes! As usual perfectly on schedule! (Unlike my game projects XD).
GUMROAD is dead. Or is it? I have no idea to be honest. I did some research and Google says that GUMROAD is not banning NSFW art entirely but rather limits the way people can pay for the purchases now: to credit card only. That being said, quite a few artists are having a "Good bye GUMROAD" sale right now, basically saying that the jig is up. So I don't know what to make of it.
So what? The reason I even talk about GUMROAD is because it was on my bucket list to create an account there one day. I thought that maybe after I release Queen Trainer I could compile an artbook or something and maybe put it on there for a little extra income. Well, looks like that ship has sailed now.
That being said. There are alternatives to GUMROAD that I could explore if I ever decide to actually do this. So it's not the end of the world for me. Although I did hear that Patreon is making curtain updates to their policy as well now. We will see how it goes. I have no illusions, I know that all good things come to an end eventually, but we will cross that bridge when we get there. For now I will just continue to concentrate on my work.
Living the life. During last week I did an unthinkable thing, something I did not do for many years now: I took my PSP for a walk with me and played some good old GBA games on it while being OUTDOORS. It was a lot of fun :)
Also after sharing that GIF from the Daxter game last week, I decided to play that game again. What an absolutely gorgeous looking game it is. It even has a first person view option that let's you really experience the masterfully crafted environment. Wasn't able to spend too much time with it, but what amount of time I had I spent mostly running around and gawking at the environment XD
The work. Time for the weekly progress report. I am finally done with testing all the major scenes and mechanics. Testing the endings took more effort than I anticipated. More than that, the entire testing process took about a month longer than I thought it would. I have been creating these games for 10+ years now, and I still continue to make miscalculations when it comes to timeframes of things. You know what that means? It means that you should never trust anybody who ever gives you any release dates. Unless the project is already finished those release date numbers will always be complete fiction. (You can always count on me though: I'll never give you any release dates :).
Now what? Now I will be working on another side-content part of the game: girl's birthdays. The original idea was this: you can wish Happy Birthday to certain characters if you talk to them on the day of their birthday. And if you happen to purchase a "Fuck-cake", you can actually throw a little private party for them. The machinic was already in the game, and even had proper art assets for everyone but Jasmine. But I want to redo it now because it does not fit the game the way I thought it would.
More text. QT allows for a lot of freedom for the player, so technically it is possible to save up enough money, buy the cake and "congratulate" a character that you just only met. It makes no sense and ruins the emersion. I will be changing it so that you can wish Happy Birthday to the characters, but only can give "fuck-cakes" to your wives.
So? I need to change a lot of code now and rewrite a lot of scenes because I want to integrate other wives into the celebrations. For example if you are married to 3 girls and one of them is having a birthday party with you, I want for the other two wives to be present also and give comments on what is happening. Hopefully I will be able to pull this off.
Jasmine? Also I need to create proper art assets for Jasmine's birthday party, because originally I had no plans for her to be able to be a "fuck-cake" recipient. Anyway, don't be frightened by the wall of text. It's a bit easier than I made it sound here. And as you can see I am feeling much more energetic, because I am done with a huge chunk of the work and feel much more hopeful about the inevitable release :)
