To be fair, the police ignoring blatant abuse with the excuse of "it's some gay dudes doing sexual roleplay" isn't unprecedented irl. Jeffrey Dahmer once got the police to return one of his victims who escaped by telling the cops it was a sex game between him and the victim. (who was too drugged out to object at the time)
