Today was a very poor start to my staycation as it's 11pm and I am still at my desk doing work work preparing a big proposal.

BUT there was a good moment earlier - we had an exciting visit from a garden designer Jordi. He and his brother run https://barristudio.com.

We will cover his visit in the vlog and as we cannot move to plans yet as this stage Jordi is going to do some research to help inspire themes for the garden project.

This includes delving into the Archives to see if we can crack who the riddle of who the architect of the house is..

He suggests which we love that the garden could be inspired by themes around the history of the house and of the age it was built.

Also he saw my paintings and his suggestion too is that we seek inspiration from Catalan Modernist painters including Santiago Rusinol who lived just 3 miles away in Sitges, as well as the great Sorolla. Both of who features gardens extensively in their work.

Here are some photos of the work of Santiago Rusiñol and also a book I am going to order on Sorolla’s painted gardens - as Jordi has this too!

It was a very inspirational visit!

First painting photo Santiago Rusiñol, The Garden at Aranjuez, ca. 1900s. Agendade Ocio website. Detail.

Second. Santiago Rusiñol, Gazebo at sunset (Glorieta al atardecer), ca. 1913. Wikimedia Commons (public domain).
