I never told you that during my trip to Barcelona for trims, I believe, I was targeted by a thief and managed to get myself out of the sticky situation in a funny way! I was down a narrow street of the stunning Gothic Quarter, filming the pretty dwindling passageways and interesting shops and taking my time, stopping frequently.

I noticed a man stood by a shop and thought nothing of it. Except that he had no bag or anything else on him. But sometimes, people are just waiting for someone or something.

After about 5 minutes of filming, I was only about 10 yards further down the street. I semi noticed my bag was unzipped and made a mental note I need to shut it soon. But was distracted by another beautiful shop.

As I was filming, I turned around and saw the same man and suddenly, my curiosity about what he was doing became suspicion.

So, I decided to test to see if he was following me. I filmed a bit more of the street and carried on filming into a pretty shop selling books and bits and I noticed he stopped outside the shop to look into the window.

At that point I had one of those, 'what a cheek' thoughts and so stood from where you can see this image taken, looking outside of the window at him. I noticed he was trying desperately not to make eye contact with me despite my staring at him. Eventually he gave up and looked at me, and even thought I was giving him they eye but my facial expression with eye brows raised and finger pointing to my phone filming him, soon made him discard this thought and here you can see him walking away.

I didn't see him again. But when in the trims shop, just a few more yards down this street, the owner was warning a tourist about thieves operating in the area. Like all cities it’s something to be careful about. What I've learned from experience here is they're often not carrying anything, working alone or with one other, they never make eye contact, often look like they're waiting and are in this sort of age category - 20s to 40s years.

I wondered after whether I'd put myself at risk filming him and then remembered that if he's clever enough, he'd realise the footage won't just be on my camera but on my iCloud and so perhaps targeting me wouldn't be a sensible idea as I'd have evidence of his actions!! As you can see, I still blocked out his eyes... innocent until proven guilty but I'm definitely taking heed of that wonderful instinct we have as well!

Wow Camilla, keep yourself safe. You are a beautiful woman and let's hope it was just your bag he was after x

I have no doubt that thieves love distracted people. Distraction maybe their number one tool. I will actually stop and tell a woman that her purse is unzipped when I see it. You obviously did all the right things Camilla and going into a store was absolutely a good decision on your part. Unfortunately you're vlogging might be better when you are traveling with others so they can watch your back. You would hate to have a snatch and grab situation happen to you. A crossbody purse is always a safer choice but just make sure it has closed up zippers. For a while purses without zippers were very trendy and I refuse to get one because I did not want to be on the subway with an open bag. Glad to know you're safe and sound and your street smart! Cheers from Toronto
