One of the interesting things I saw in the tile catalogue from 1912 wasn't just our tiles.  In the back pages we were delighted to find our lovely balustrades too! This design is on our back balconies on the first and second floor.

We can't wait to clean it up and turn these balconies into amazing relaxing and entertaining spaces.

The use of Bustems tiles and balustrades gives more weight to our architect’s belief that Can Punxes was most likely designed by the incredibly prestigious architect Enric Sagnier. This is because our architect feels that the fact we have products from Bustems indicates that Can Punxes was built by a prestigious architect from Barcelona. This is because a more local archictect wold have commissioned the floors from the local company "Borrell", from the next door town Vilanova, and not to a more expensive and prestigious company, from Barcelona.

"Butsems" was founded in 1875 by Mr. Marià-Carles Butsems. In 1891, Mr. Josep Fradera, who was Butsems' son-in-law, joined as shareholding partner. From that moment on, the company was renamed "Butsems i Fradera". The company was known as having a high level of innovation and was a prestige brand.

There is no doubt that the owner of Can Punxes did things to a very high standard and this shows in how well things have lasted!
