It’s fair to say this hasn’t been my best past week. But today I felt able to finally pick up my brushes again to work on that painting I am redoing from ages ago. Still more to do but I am literally feeling the colours as I paint. This is definitely my happy place. I am racking my brains on how to do more of this next year while also paying the bills- but there is always a way - if one breaks it down to small steps. Ultimately my gut tells me it’s always best to do what you feel you are here to do however hard that may be.

I hope your weeks are going well. I am a bit behind to replying to your lovely comments and messages but I am reading them all x

I agree Ollie, there are times when you must follow your heart, not your head. I have become very interested in Modernist architecture of the region. Steve and Sarah of Château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés are hosting an event next May "Belle Epoch en Plein Air" that combine her love of costume and his of drawing & painting. Seem to me that you are in the perfect spot for Art & artitecture events. In our lives when things have seemed bleak we always found a way....or did it find us? Anyhoo that's my dos centavos.

Ollie! The painting is lovely! Don’t worry about not responding. I think most of us are not expecting replies. We just enjoy your daily posts. It makes us feel connected and a part of something bigger than ourselves. I retired only to gain the care of my elderly mom who has Alzheimer’s. I am honored to care for her but it doesn’t leave much time for myself. I think it is important to find those pockets of time. I try to do that when she sleeps. I work on miniature rooms. A hobby I found during lockdown. I think you and Camilla have placed yourselves in a place where you can expand your dreams. The Art and Architecture events would be fun. Whatever you do, you are doing together so that makes everything worth it. Family is everything.

Thank you so much BJ. Yes I was lucky enough to meet Steve and Sarah in Venice and they are very inspirational. I am very much a believer in where there is a will there is a way and that small steps add up. There is quite an artistic community here so I think we can definitely do something. Following my heart more with prioritising my art is definitely my big challenge for 2023!

Hi Rhonda. I am feeling much better physically and mentally today thank you and even managed to do some keep fit which felt good. My work is super busy and I think I overstretched myself a bit to be honest. I have had a moment to breathe today and I wanted to thank you so much for this lovely message and the care you showed. I love the idea of carving out pockets of time rather than getting frustrated about now having lots of time, I will try to do that more and to encourage the girls too as they are both artistic and doing things together makes my heart sing. Even 20 minutes of drawing is better than none. I am VERY intrigued by your miniature rooms - how absolutely fantastic!! - I would love to see one! Funnily enough this Christmas I am going to be doing some miniature book nooks with Ophelia and would love at some point to create a miniature theatre. Miniature rooms sounds like something Ophelia and I would both love so I would love to know more! How did you get into doing them? How do you get started?
