Holy cow this episode was INTENSE! I cannot believe these are true stories. These men are real life super heroes. I get pretty loud during the fox hole bombings so prepare for that.

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving, if you celebrate <3

This is a hard one to get through. You did it. The book and the show might have done Lt. Dike a little dirty, and yeah Imon he might have been on the spectrum as you said. So he's a new guy, possibly autistic, not very good social skills, and he's replacing Winters, so our established guys aren't going to like him because they miss Winters. Also according to one witness Dike didn't freeze up from panic at the end, he might have been shot and nobody noticed until much later. The stories aren't entirely clear. Dike might not have been a great officer, certainly not as good as Winters, but I think he might have been a bit better than what was depicted. Regarding your questions, Talbert has similar hair to Luz, so easy to confuse them, Talbert was accidentally stabbed in episode 3, Talbert's still around, he's one of the Sergeants. The dead guy that you thought was Luz was one of the new guys named Webb, I think he was the guy who was being given the tour and story of how everybody was wounded over the years. Which was sort of a helpful recap of the characters for the viewer. It's a clever story telling technique to remind the viewer who's who. Lt. Buck Compton (blue eyes) wasn't killed but he's going home, the dramatic fade out effect was for the guys killed and wounded and going home, so when he was faded out it just means he's gone. You mentioned Lt. Harry Welsh. If I'm remembering right from last the previous episode he was wounded so he's recovering in a hospital somewhere, it's only been a few weeks since episode 6 for the characters.

I call this the Speirs episode. I like him, he was always my favorite. I loved that scene with Buck and his men, the way he cares for them. I liked your reaction and the talk at the end. Beautiful <3

And the most incredible thing about the Speirs thunderrun is that it was supposedly even more unbelievable in reality. Not only did he run past in the middle of the germans, but he was shouting and shooting at them too, before returning.

While I liked the Speirs run and also the cathedral scene (including the discussion between Lipton and Speirs), my favorite moment in this episode: "Alright, I want mortars and grenade launchers on that building till it's gone. When it's gone, I want 1st to go straight in. Forget going around. Everybody else, follow me." --Lt. Speirs

This episode is incredibly tough to watch, there’s no better title then the breaking point for this episode. And it really is incredible how few of these men actually broke. They really are super heroes, I cannot imagine having to go through the things they went through. Just to expand on what Frankie H said, having learned about this along time after watching. it is kind of sad how they portrayed Lt. Norman Dike. It turns out he wasn’t sent down to command easy company just because they wanted him to have combat experience. He actually had been in combat before joining Easy company and had been awarded two bronze stars for his actions. He had actually been in combat 10 days prior to joining Easy. I believe it is accurate that he would disappear for long periods of time, but the reason might have actually been because he was experiencing “shell shock” or PTSD from his combat experience and was trying to hide it. Which honestly to the men of Easy Company could seem like he was just being a bad leader. And like Frankie says he actually does get shot during the assault on Foy in the arm, I don’t believe he actually freezes up as much as he might just have been in shock. One thing I found that really is amazing, is a YouTube channel called “The National WWII Museum” that holds these panels with the cast of band of brothers and they talk for hours about their experience filming the show. The actor who plays Lt. Dike was at the panel and beautifully discusses what might have been going on with Dike. I’ll provide a link to the panel: https://youtu.be/76x42xBKenE?si=Kh07eTBcuJM9IExt For a time stamp: At the 21:55 mark is where he begins to speak. The whole thing is great and they do it every year. And try to get as many actors as they can to show up. It turns out not only was the connection so strong between the actual men of Easy Company. But the actors who played them are forever bonded together as well and the show really heavily impacted their lives to this day. I also know quite a few of them got to meet and become good friends with the real men they were portraying.

Aww yes learning Lt. Duke may have been portrayed ooorly really sucks. Because he was a real guy and if he especially wasn’t acting that way that is sad. Thank you for the link and time stamp. I will watch it when I can Take care
