Pool Water Epilogue (Patreon)

Remember Don't Swallow Pool Water? It was my very first Patreon exclusive post! People have been asking for a sequel ever since and, while there have been a couple follow-up images, none of them depicted the fates of the three secondary characters.

Big thanks to the anonymous fan who pointed me towards this Fyre Fest photo and commissioned the epilogue. Remember Fyre Fest? Feels like a lifetime ago. 

I doubt I would have pulled off the anatomy without this picture. We wanted a pinup of the four of them, transformed and lounging in sexy swimsuits. However, while photos of women sunbathing alone or in pairs are plentiful, finding four of them that also fit together in perspective is not as easy. Without good reference, I might spend days sketching only to end up with a stiff collage instead of an alluring scene. I didn't want the image to be ruined by wonky anatomy.  

For the coloring, I played around with a few different palettes but something still wasn't clicking. An artist friend helpfully pointed out that the image felt lopsided, pulling the eye towards the darker values on the left. I darkened the magazine and swimsuit on the right to balance it out. Toyed with the idea of pink, dusky lighting, but ended up preferring the sweltering, midday heat's intensity. To achieve it, I had to push myself away from my usual soft, desaturated colors and go bold and bright.
