Seems like Patreon is banning more adult creators.

Among others, the article features MrPhoenyxx, a 3D bimbofication artist. They made this post:

We could spend hours discussing the boundaries of forced transformation and whether it constitutes sexual violence but it's beside the point. Patreon is most likely going to adopt the broadest possible definition to avoid liability for themselves and their payment providers. The only thing I find peculiar is that, as of this writing, Patreon's Community Guidelines don't mention transformation at all.

Still, I have to assume my days on this website are numbered. It's not the worst timing --I was already planning on pausing payments at the end of July to take August off. I just hope they don't ban me halfway through next month. It'll suck if you all get charged without me being able to post your rewards. I'm just hoping for an official, public announcement from Patreon so we know where we stand.

This is part and parcel of working as a NSFW artist. Until the legal status of financing pornography changes, the best we can hope for is to fly under the radar. I doubt we'll see someone running on a platform of "let's make porn creation easier!" anytime soon.

If I sound defeated, I'm not. I love this job! I might end up off Patreon but I'm not "going anywhere". I'm lucky and grateful to have your support and we'll find other ways to make this work. Patreon is convenient, and it was great while it lasted but there'll always be alternatives. I could go back to paycomics. A small part of me is even excited about the possibility of focusing on larger projects again, going from tiny weekly bites to longer, more memorable fap experiences.

Anyway, whether on Patreon or elsewhere, you can definitely expect more transformation art from me in the future.

Thanks for reading and for your support! I'll let you know if there are any updates!

You may also put up an open disclaimer saying it's a work of fiction and that these are not for the purpose of sexual slavery advocacy, but rather commissioned works for the enjoyment of anyone choosing to view them, and do not reflect the ideological beliefs of the artist.

Anonymous

Espeecially since this is not your first rodeo with internet outrage.

Anonymous

Would voluntary transformation be acceptable to patreon, I wonder? That might allow for an out.

sortimid

Thanks. I added a disclaimer, though I doubt it'll matter. This is a business decision on their part rather than idealogical outrage. If they're banning hypnosis and stuff that's literally impossible irl, I doubt they care about disclaimers or whether it's fictional.

Anonymous

Right after you got a serious breakout in subscribers too. That sucks :(

Dynamoob

Aw man, this is a downer. We're going to have to tread lightly from now on and be careful how what we make can be interpreted as non-voluntary. It seems unclear at this moment if they're going to target "bimbofication" and "sissification" full stop as a whole, or if more nuance will be considered since it sounds like the underlying issue is the matter of consent or lack-thereof.

Spotts1701

It seems like selective targeting. And if it is really because the cc companies are pushing it, are they gonna go after other sites like Clips4Sale or Kinkbomb?

sortimid

I don't know how it's meant to be interpreted, but straight-up equating forced transformations to sexual violence seems absurd. It implies Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and every werewolf story ever shouldn't be allowed on the platform for containing sexual violence. Ditto the Jungle Book and hypnosis. Is it only an issue if the TF results in sexual acts? Is a virus non-consensual? What about a cursed talisman or the full moon? I just hope we get clear guidelines.

sortimid

Yeah... but the last major Patreon scandal happened right as I launched Who Will Be the Bimboest so, in a way, this isn't as bad

sortimid

Maybe, but blanket equating forced transformations to sexual violence still seems excessive. It's such a common fairytale trope. It's like in every second Disney animated film.

sortimid

I don't know. Maybe they're not big enough targets yet? Patreon uses PayPal which is notoriously touchy about adult content, after all.

Curious Krissy

Man~ this just super fuckin bums me out, because I legit love being able to support peeps that make DAMN GOOD ART and this was such an easy way to do it. :((

I feel your pain! Saw this message on our Discord a few days ago... Probably the same thing happens what was the deal with Tumbrl as well. It's safer to look around for other possibilities! But I'm sure, we can see you're work on many other places, if not we still have the paycomics! :) I love them better in most cases since you can release your're ideas in those! :P

sortimid

Yeah, you're basically summing it up: it's not the end of the world, but it's damn inconvenient.

sortimid

Thanks! <3 Yeah, there will always be alternatives, it's just annoying and inconvenient

Brandon Booth

It sucks that Patreon is gearing up to screw over tones of NSFW artists, especially with the tumbler debacle still very fresh in peoples minds. But I know I would love to see some longer comics from you so that could be something to look forward to.

Amaz2k12

Thank you for the warning my friend. I wish us all the best

I did a write-up on this myself as well, but I got to think about it and I think it may not be as bad as we're assuming because early in June they did the hypno ban. I know one of the creators who had their works reviewed by Patreon, they only produce hypno erotic content after the review was over they didn't have to remove content or delete their account no action was taken. I'm not saying this isn't bad, it is and Patreon is in the wrong. However, I don't think all content ever is being banned just certain content, sadly they are being vauge about what that content entails but I think people can get a general idea by looking at what has been reviewed and banned vs reviewed and left alone.

sortimid

I agree. The uncertainty is the worst part. I just hope we get some clarity soon.

Damo

I follow a few creators that have been worried about their content in the past. An option they've favored is offering patrons membership to a discord where the "not sure if patreon allows this" stuff is posted, and making their patreon page more of a general "support this artist" thing, with art that's clearly fine. There are a lot of artists that draw things they don't want on their patreon page, but patreon doesn't crack down on artists based on what the artists post elsewhere. They monitor what's here, not artists' whole lives. Not ideal, but making the patreon into something just supporting your art in general with a few safe pictures gives the company it wants: distance.

Benjamin Tischer

Hold up. Is this why my payments to you aren't going through??? Because I can now confirm that they're going through for other people just fine, so it's not a problem with my credit card.

sortimid

Oh dear, I hope not! Sorry you're having trouble! Unfortunately, there isn't much information about payments on my side to help you with. Your best best is to contact Patreon support.
