This is a rambling about what's come of my schedule, and how I hope my time management skills improve. This post has some personal information, but it's nothing I'm ashamed of, I just ask that you don't ask me about it in a public stream. The reason I've been private about some things is because they distract from everything not-personal (and hopefully cool) that I'm involved with.

First things first. I spent a good portion of this week reviewing a module, and the module took a dump...repeatedly. Rather than tarnishing a small company, I'm just assuming it's a defective unit and offering to send it back. I HATE situations like this because they waste my most precious resource: time.

So, clearing that video and deleting whatever footage I had, I'm now excited to get learning and playing with the Vector Synth, which looks NUTS. I'm actually overwhelmed by the features at this point, which is a good problem to have. That'll be the next video.

Tomorrow I'll be doing a stream review of Auto-Tune Slice. I've talked them into giving 3 licenses/subscriptions away in return for the feature, which is worth a lot. So yay!
Then on Monday or Tuesday I'll be delighted to have a Sim Selections listening party stream, and hopefully some GeoGuessr sessions as well. The stream will be a tad earlier in the week as my birthday is on the 28th, and I really don't want to be arguing with a camera driver, OBS, and ASIO on my birthday. I want to be reading.

Finally, on to the personal stuff: Earlier this year I had some thyroid issues that may have been an early detection of cancer. COVID-19 made this a lot more difficult as any elective or preventative procedure was delayed, but it's all good minus some expected side effects. I'd say this has slowed me down, but it hasn't outside of the time it takes to go to and from appointments or arguing with health insurance companies. I realize this sounds like a soapbox, but other than it being a time vacuum, it's good news. It was caught in a blood test during a physical earlier in the year, which is incredibly good timing. :)

Annnnd my wife, Nicola, who you surely have seen in past videos, has been in the UK since January with her son, and due to the difficult and asinine circumstances with immigration, she will not be allowed to return to America for a long time.  We've considered all the options, and the common sense thing here is to cut our losses and proceed with a divorce. Again, this isn't a soapbox, but more of a heads up that inevitably all of this paperwork and legal stuff will cut into other things in my schedule. She HAS been on the channel from time to time, so I also don't want anyone to assume something more contentious or juicy than the reality. As much as I'd love to have a leaked video of her throwing synths of a broken trailer door while I scream outside wearing nothing but a trucker cap and tighty whiteys, it's just a lot of paperwork.

The video schedule is bonkers and stacked 6+ ahead, which is a good thing, as 2 years ago I was reviewing a Walmart laptop and feeling like I didn't have enough ideas to sustain a YouTube channel.
Which begs the question: What do y'all want to see/hear from me?

Duckstuff, mostly

I mostly just really love any of your videos that occur outdoors, because nobody else really does good outdoor music content

Ditto the field recording stuff - nobody else does that as well as you do.

How about some trailer park music? Drunken synth musings in tighty whities. Some guy named Bubbles living in a shed outside your trailer could occasionally play a cowbell or cuss intermittently in the background. Failing that, a look at the Deluge. Is that on your list? I actually ordered the Vector synth earlier this year, but backed out to get a Summit. The Vector looks very cool though.

I ditto ditto the field recording and composing - maybe do it with a/the Deluge =).

Enjoy the vector, reminds me I should dust mine off. Glad you caught the thyroid stuff early, it's not much fun. I agree with the other folks, outside/field recording. Would be interested on seeing different mic types like geophones/contact as well.

Also, when I first saw the title...I thought you were actually doing something with ketchup... 🤦‍♂️

Personally, I'd love to see you do an extended version of If Trees Could Speak on a live stream. That one always left me wanting more!

I like it when you're showcasing novel production ideas and musical exploration (that scrapyard sampling video with Richard is a favorite). I also really enjoy the field recording/outdoor music writing stuff. The well researched deep dives into a entity or subject are also nice, you're pretty thoughtful and it comes across when you're presenting information. Those are the most specific aspects I can pin down.

Honestly, I love all of your content. The outdoor exploration/ sample gathering videos are amazing, the wild studio setups are fun, the deep dives into a particular topic are great. One thing I'd love to see is a deep dive into what it's like to make music for a living - navigating contracts, scoring, finding work, etc.

I'd like more videos like the Behringer criticism and the one about women in the music industry.

Sorry about the tough stuff. I know you aren't fishing for sympathy, but I just feel compelled to give a little anyway because you're genuine person and I appreciate what you do. Stuff I like to see, like others have mentioned, is the outside stuff and the experiment type stuff. That's my favorite. :)

Sending <3 from London. The bit where you showed how you made the cello from one of your peity of ashes tracks really blew my mind. It gave me a whole new way to enjoy and appreciate that album. Any more little windows into some of the playful cleverness in your released music would be grand by me
