I think it is fun/interesting how much of Japanese fantasy aesthetics are based on older Western fantasy, such as early editions of Dungeons and Dragons, while the Western versions of them evolved along a different branch. So Japanese fantasy have stuff like Piglike Orcs and Dog-Like Kobolds, as many early fantasy works were based on peoples D&D games and such and that is how they were depicted in a lot of them. Meanwhile, Western Fantasy have mostly gone away from the Piglike Orcs, and changed them to being big and green. While Kobolds are mostly being depicted as being draconic/reptilian. In general I think it is fun to look at how minor things can greatly influence how something is viewed in fiction. Take the concept of trolls being able to regenerate, as an example. From my understanding this is something Gary Gygax took from the book "Three Hearts and Three Lions" (I haven´t read it, but to my understanding it is basically about a danish resistance fighter getting isekaied to a fantasy world). So because of this one book having a troll like creature that is able to regenerate, Gygax made D&D trolls able to regenerate, which have now caused it to simply be considered a standard part of what makes a troll a troll.

The art the mangaka made in the side panels is really amazing too. She shows how she can morph her characters in terms of form race even personality. She is a genius in my mind and her artwork is insanely detailed.
