He let go of the blades and clapped his hands when they went out of frame. I guess this fight is more from Mahito's PoV, so we don't see when Todo's too fast for him

So it's purposefully obscured off screen since not even Mahito notices it, but he snapped the blade, clapped, swapped the broken blade and himself, and then hit him, in literally the blink of an eye, that's how fast Todo reacted.

You seemed confused when Todo's Black Flash didn't work so you may not remember. In season 1 we learned that because of the way his powers work Mahito can't be harmed unless you damage his soul directly. Yuji (and recently Kugisaki) for various reasons are able to deal that type of damage to Mahito. Todo may be able to combat him but Yuji is that only one who can actually kill him.

As far as Shonen shows go, like the usual Shonen Jump shows like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece etc etc, Yuuji has 100% suffered the most. Now if we also take into account some other shows that are more "mature" or "serious" in nature, a certain isekai person comes straight to my mind.
