here in italy our version of the boogeyman is called "l' uomo nero" literally "the black man", i swear to god it's not racist, it refers to something made out of darkness that hides inside closets and under beds, like i said, it's not racist but damn is it funny how it might sound to english speakers

I totally get the whole therapy thing. I mean, I won't pretend to know everything you are going through, it would be a pretty audacious platitude. However, when you are ready, please look into it. I struggle with a lot of insecurities, abandonment, and trust issues to the point where as much as I crave family ties and comradery, I can't open myself up to being that vulnerable. Again, I do not pretend to know what you are going through, but I hope that me airing out my issues helps in some way, or maybe it won't. I still have ambiguity being words on the screen with no attachment, but my hope is that it does. If not, ignore it. I love you, platonically, and hope the best for you.

Solenya isn't an actual folk tale, it's literally just Russian for pickle.

I've always been of two minds on this episode. On one hand it is funny, out there and good old Rick and Morty weirdness. On the other hand, it's a tragedy. Beth's marriage is basically over, and rather than to be there for his daughter and family, Rick turned himself into a pickle over going to family counselling so he doesn't need to be there for her.

i have a theory and it kind of is reinforced a little in this ep. with how beth thinks shes better than everyone, i wonder if thats why jerry belittles her profession? cause she doesnt call herself a horse surgeon or an equine surgeon but a surgeon and only does this to up her ego so that shes seen as the same as a person surgeon. it is impressive to be an equine surgeon, sure, but i wonder if jerry knows that she only does it cause she wants people to think shes better than just a vet. again, nothing wrong with it but his motives may be different to just belittling her because of his insecurities.

from what i remember, the scene with goldenfold at the therapist was an odd but somewhat interesting piece of continuity. after the aliens took over earth at the end of last season, some of the humans fled the surface and moved into the sewers to escape the alien invaders; we see them reemerge when rick toppels the gromflomite empire back in episode one. it is somewhat inferred that, with no way to naturally grew food down there, the sewer rebels resorted to consuming whatever they could get there hands on and that includes shit, which explains why goldenfold started .... getting addicted(?) to eating shit, hence his visit at the therapist.

Therapy is VERY important for sure but if you get the wrong therapist or a therapist that is not right for you it can be a VERY big problem.

macattack

that theory shit hit me in the feels

i just noticed, and its not brought up or anything but at the start of the session, beth tries so hard to control the session at first. great character writing for these eps tbh

CrazyChameleon

You need better old wives tales .. lol .. I'm sorry but we all can't have terrifying urban legends like MOTHMAN and BIGFOOT XD Oh and let's not forget Jack'O'Lanterns. Which were actually a lot scarier back when they were turnips XD Look em up!! Point is most urban legends are stoopid .. when you get right down to it :)

YukoValis

Well obviously those were bad, unsubscribed rats.

I like Dr. Wong being able to act as a mirror that forces Rick and Beth to at least acknowledge their shitty behavior, and it's unfortunate that her character is slightly soured by being the self insert of one of the new writers brought on for season 3. Not that self insert characters are an inherently negative thing, they just very easily can be, and often are.

I think you're toying with some toxic mischaracterization.

Sand Man

i love the amount of effort you go to to try and stay supportive of beth, even when you say something bad about her, you still try to cycle back to support, shes clearly in wrong, if it was jerry, morty, or rick in her spot, im pretty sure you wouldve spent the entire episode shitting on them lol

Anzac-A1

This episode, more than any other, shows just how smart Rick really is. He doesn't have hands, or any real tools, yet he manages to engineer himself working limbs and technology.
