My Toasty Toast

I’m so disappointed I won’t be able to watch this until late next week

Are we getting the movies too? If you don’t that would be a shame since the second one is the official end to the anime & canon

Hey everyone! It's already evening here in my country, and it's Christmas Eve. I think it's still noon in Serbia, and by the time I wake up tomorrow morning, I guess it will be Christmas Eve in the US too. Before I head to bed, I just wanted to say a quick Merry Christmas to all of you. Although I haven't caught up with many of the live-action shows and animes LM have watched and everyone discussed here this year, I really appreciate how passionately everyone shares their deep insights into every series. It's a rare vibe that's hard to find in other communities, especially when most people seem to gravitate towards more superficial, "fast-food" content. Anyway, Merry Christmas to you all and I wish you a happy new year! (And just a little Christmas wish from me: If I wake up and see a Christmas movie post from the girls, I'll be so excited and might just jump out of bed)

Recently, I read that the OST composer for "Frieren" is the same as that for "Violet Evergarden." That makes sense because, in some ways, they have similar vibes, but "Frieren" is not as sad; it's more mellow. "Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End." , was one of the most beautiful, profound, and emotive anime from this year, a real masterpiece. Perhaps it is the best non-isekai anime in the high fantasy genre. High fantasy typically refers to a world inspired by Tolkien and Norse Mythology, featuring elements like elves, magic, dragons, and dwarves (like the usual Dungeons and Dragon adventure ). I think the key concept of this story is nostalgia for a past that has gone by and will never return (and in that way is similar to "Cowboy Bebop"), but also the realization that time passes much faster than we believe. All this is portrayed from the perspective of one of the best and adorable non-human characters I've seen, the long-lived elf Frieren. This is not your typical adventure story; here, the hero's party has already defeated the Dark Lord, and we see how life continues afterward, exploring how the years pass and precious memories begin to fade. It's about the regrets of not sharing more time with our friends and the people we loved. I think Frieren might be one of the best new anime of this year, alongside "Oshi no Ko" (my favorite for the 2nd position), "The Apothecary Diaries" (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto), "Hell's Paradise" (Jigokuraku), "Tengoku Daimakyo," and "Pluto" (from the same author as "Monster"). This month, "Frieren" even surpassed "Full Metal Alchemist" as the #1 top-rated anime on My Anime List. "Frieren" is still airing; the first season will continue in January and will consist of 28 episodes.

What a lovely comment! Just so you know I'm after making a discord for us Patrons to discuss shows further with spoiler/no spoiler channels, and give recommendations to each other too. Prolly not as relevant to Violet now that the girls have the series finished, but if you plan on watching more shows with us tsune then it'd be cool to see you there 😊 https://discord.com/invite/ekRgKgwY

The Apothecary Diaries is completely underrated. You hear a lot about Frieren, especially simply because it dethroned Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, but TAD is so good. The only thing that makes me sad is that only the first two books of the light novel are being adapted and the other 11 books will probably take another 6 seasons. 🥺
