I had a school teacher who was dishonorably discharged from the marines for violence within his unit He served his punishment and went to college to get a degree in education. He worked at my school full time during our teacher shortage when the county bought out several of our teachers Had a mentor in High school who was arrested for assault when he was in his 20s. He had a probation officer who connected him to the mentorship program changing his life These people were actually punished, received proper counseling and clearance to do the work they wanted and then gave back to the community (as did IRL Avon Barksdale). I’m all about reform and criminal records not holding people back but context is absolutely required and someone who has hurt children shouldn’t be working with them This is a tv show and for this season Prez is Ed Burns stand in for the life he experienced as a teacher in Baltimore
