Season 4 is my favorite season... no doubt

What I find interesting, personally, it's the shooting from the police side: no policeman shot one in this series even once till the end of the season 3, but Prez. And every time he did it... it was a huge mistake. Interesting idea, that shows us that no guns is really needed to prevent criminal activity, and the guns is basically just exists as an instrument of intimidating.

We were talking about this back in season 1! This is honestly one of the first things I bring up when recommending the show A lot of people hear about Omar and get the wrong idea that the show is gonna have a focus on spectacle over grounded reality

What a beautiful reaction, thank you. Another excellent and throughly satisfying season of The Wire “If it’s a lie then we fight on that lie.” - Slim Charles. This is a reference to the events leading to the invasion of Iraq in 2003 - a war which was fought on the lie of the existence of WMDs. In fact, S3 contains several parallels and references to the Iraq War and the so-called “War on Terror”. The season aired in 2004 so these references felt very acute at the time. “Get on with it, motherfucker.” - Bunny’s last words at the COMSTAT meeting mirrored Stringer’s final words before he was killed by Brother Mouzone and Omar. The two men trying to reform the drug game and policing bowed out with the same words. Speaking of Omar... he looked pretty disappointed when he saw Dante. Brandon was tortured in S1 but never gave Omar up. Meanwhile Dante had only a few cuts and bruises and gave Omar up to Mouzone. Not a good look for their relationship. Interesting how the opening scene of the season started with the towers being destroyed (another “War on Terror” reference); and the final scene saw with the rubble and wreckage of Hamsterdam. Immensely looking forward to Season 4.

To anyone trying to spoil season 4 again to persuade them to keep watching, learn to tell sarcasm. They're not actually serious about stopping to watch here.

Somehow season four is better.

The song in the final montage is called Fast Train by Solomon Burke. It's a beautiful song and I love that final montage. I agree that it feels like a finale. Season 3 is still my favourite season, as good as 4 is. I hope they see the show through, it's so worth it.

The shot of Frank Sobotkas election poster always gets me

Funny thing is, they wrote Season 3 Finale to be a show finale because they didn't think HBO would bring it back. It took petitions and multiple meetings with the execs on HBO to get them another season.

Your reaction to Avon mirrors my own, where I went from despising him in season 1 to kind of admiring him in season 3, and a big part of that is how artfully the writers used Dee's murder to shift the moral weight for most of the Barksdale gang's season 1 atrocities onto Stringer.

That ending montage of season 3. That reaction is why I will forever be fans of you Lola and Milena. I used to be ashamed of the fact that everytime I see that I just bawl out crying but you guys, you guys get it man!

So, let the countdown to Season 4 begin!
