No one ever asks Richie how he's doing either. He's just Richie Bad News (as imperfect as he is, the mom should not have explained the meaning to their daughter). The quick cuts of Richie laughing with Mikey is so powerful. It reminds you that Richie is also grieving. He lost his best friend and a non-blood related brother that he grew up with. He worked at the Beef to be around Mikey. Richie in some ways acts the way he does because he hasn't processed and hasn't fully dealt with losing Mikey. He sees change at and around the Beef and he's reminded of the loss of Mikey. His last physical connection to his best friend is being taken from him and instead of trying to deal with he, he lashes out. He's sad and scared. He blames Carmy and Sydney because they're changing all he has left of Mikey. Its clear time and again, underneath all of his charisma and bravado, Richie's self esteem is non-existent. Carmy, Natalie, and Richie all deal with their grief in different ways. Love Natalie and it was nice in this episode for her to assert her feelings.
