great ep, great reaction! Agree with Lola that the soundtrack bangs, and agree with Milena that Carmy's arms could support a large quantity of stock 👀 The Al-Anon family group Carmy attends is for family members of all types of addicts, not just alcoholics. While each substance addiction is unique, they share enough for their to be one meeting for all the family. I looove the scene between Sydney and Carmy, how open they are. There's 0% chance the restaurant would work if Carmy was overly defensive here, or if Sydney wasn't willing to try it (even knowing it would suck). All the performances in the show are so natural and real, reminds me of Succession in that sense.

So from what I read from people working in this industry, the hatred of brunch comes from the fact that the busiest time for a restaurant is saturday evenings and the most popular time for brunch is sunday afternoon. So you're completely knackered from the busiest night of the week and the next day you have to run an entirely different menu for a ton of people that are also typically drinking, so brunch is not well liked.

Yeah, it's basically a service at an awkward time, where you serve broadly worse / entitled + day drunk patrons, often who paid a fixed fee and demand loads of food and service - usually on a Sunday (the nice quiet day). It's also the emergency option for a lot of already failing restaurants ("we need money, let's do a brunch!") so it exacerbates existing problems under stress

Long time bartender -- literally anyone who has worked at a restaurant will tell you that brunch in terms of service is a nightmare, literally no one wants to work brunch, it's universally the worst shift in a restaurant and customers suck for that time of day.
