Lola can I just say that you really suit having your hair in a ponytail or bun. Looking like a model

HenryM

Time to chrome the fuck up ;) I'm glad you went for the dub version, they've done an excellent job with the voice acting

JATLA

By the way, about the way the girl appears, that’s just a cinematic/fancy detail in the show for the audience, it’s not actually her appearing or teleporting out of no where or something like that. I think the creators were just trying to put emphasis on her character

Our boy got played

Farbod

That song at the end hits me so hard...

JATLA

The girl wanting to run away from this city was her honest feelings, it’s a glimpse into the way this world is, and the fact that she turned on David shows exactly how this world is, it’s the opposite of Vinland, everyone is your enemy😅

Omar O

Regarding the end of the opening: “who is standing above? It’s like, capitalism?” - basically yes, is the embodiment of this corpo world: Night City And you were very on point about the cyberpsychosis, the more the implants the more on edge they put your mind, but David’s Sandy (Sandevistan, the thing on the spine) is military grade so even more riskier, more even if it is your first implant

Antonio

Spicy choice deciding to google character information at the start of a show. That's screwed me over a couple times for animes.

Farbod

So some more background. In this time, everything is basically run by mega corporations. One of the big corporations is Arasaka. Arasaka deals in corporate security, banking, and manufacturing. Arasaka-branded weapons and military vehicles are among the most sought after by police and security firms. The Arasaka Corporation maintains the largest and most powerful armed forces of any corporation in the world, with their guards renowned worldwide and feared by many. Most firms will look to licensing from Arasaka corporate security guards, couriers, or mercenaries to protect their assets. The other big megacorp that is Arasaka's rival is Militech. Both are super powerful and influential.

Anyone wanna hype the ride that is Death Parade? It could easily follow this show but only if people vouch for it.

Antonio

Vouch for Castlevania, such a good blend of seriousness and humor.

Hollow

I like how they speak with their minds. The system sometimes repeats words because that's how they think. It's imperfect Thought-to-Speech/Text.

Orr Malus

I don't know about Castlevania. I doubt I'll be able to abstain myself from writing mini essays in the comments about Vlad The Impaler and how the real story makes the anime look dull.

Nathan Elkin

I feel like this missed the point. Castlevania is a good show and worth watching, but that shouldn’t detract from my suggestion. Death Parade is a wonderfully insightful story that’s short and engaging, and most importantly, will probably never get recommended by anyone but me. Castlevania is an easy win, but it feels weird to have two video game inspired shows back to back.

Shivering King Banana

It's ok ladies, Vinland is over, killing is cool again.

Rare

It's hard to tell when to take things that are stylized literally or metaphorically. I'm not really sure how you train yourself to know when. I think you just have to be really familiar with the medium of animation. Or I guess art in general, since some live-action stuff can be quite surreal.

Shivering King Banana

"They're not gonna kill him they're just gonna take the implant" The implant replaced his spine, people die without their spine Lola. lol

Orr Malus

Problem with anime's based on videogames is that they're riding the coattails of a videogame and are not based on a manga written by an author with a singular vision which has already gone through the gauntlet of the publishing world and also passed the test of public opinion over and over again for years on end. Then there's the issue of the target audience, with gamers being more concerned with the action and visuals (a la gameplay and graphics) rather than a well thought out sophisticated intricate plot.

Merfhew

Death Parade and Castlevania are both great shows. That being said, I don't understand why the two of you are framing your requests that way. I can only speak for myself, but when I'm voting for a new reaction series, the show they've been watching is completely irrelevant to my decision. But, again, that's just me.

Anto

I'm not really loving this show right now but I guess there are still 7 episodes to change my mind. Hope you're enjoying it, though.

Jahari Fields

I think the best way to describe this show is “A look into life in night city”

Jed U

The point of the game and moreover this show is less about a specific goal or mission, but rather "what it takes to survive in Night City (the setting) and what it can cost"

Anonymous

don't worry girls, the next 2 episodes will answer most of your questions, and I can't wait

Shivering King Banana

Orr Malus neither Cyberpunk nor Castlevania ride any coatails beyond the title. They both stand as their own stories. Merfew I agree, I wasn't trying to frame it like that just that it would be better. The only show I would say should follow another is Shamploo following Bebop.

Edgar

Can you explain the critical and Comercial success of last of us games and TV series? The Witcher 3? Mass effect games? Red dead redemption? Uncharted? Can you explain the success of arkane? All of these are heavy narrative driven and character driven stories in games or adaptations based on game. So could you stop generalizing? It's like saying anime can only offer action and spectacle with oversexualization of minors

TeaDrinker3000

Started watching the season today and I've watched both reactions now. Looking forward to seeing more!
