i needed these, just got out of work and i was three seconds away from punching my boss in the face. need some distraction even if it's already pretty late. let's hope this is not too depressing/makes me even madder

honestly depending on the discussion, it seems like this might be my favourite reaction in this channel, considering the reaction, this seems likely.

Love how the writers show there are human people behind these awful horrible things that happen. Avon is a deplorable drug kingpin but deeply values his family, cooking for family events he hosts and lovingly embracing his nephew’s child. In the Narcotics department Daniels goes out of his way to protect the three officers underneath him who in a drunken rage harassed and injured citizens living in a low income housing area full of drug related crime. He believes he can’t afford to lose these officers for his case and he knows he’ll be punished if they are. He’s troubled by this and agrees with his wife that if he stays involved in the case he’s gonna face repercussions no matter what he does Lola asked and it is very worth noting that it is still legal in every state for police to lie during interrogations. The Fifth amendment protects citizens to an extent but the police can still make false claims to obtain information or a confession even if it isn’t always the case that that confession will be held up in court… which is obviously horrible, even more so considering how common it is for people to make false confessions The two creators and head writers of the show David Simon and Ed Burns both worked in Baltimore for multiple decades (Simon as a reporter and Burns as a cop/public school teacher). They have an intimate knowledge of Baltimore and were super dedicated to realism, basing events and characters in the story on real events and people. For things they had little to no personal life experience with they brought in writers and consultants specifically for those elements (people who lived in low income housing projects that suffered police harassment, people who dealt drugs at a young age, police informants who abused drugs etc etc) and regularly asked actors to improvise or alter lines to make them sound more authentic Great reaction!

I know the feeling of wanting to punch my boss too well. I hope all is good

HenryM

And who could forget the bit he did in the Eric Andre show. He was one of the good ones

CI - Confidential Informant (Paid snitch) Can police lie to get information? YES, they can say anything.

HenryM

The anticipation when they were gonna take pictures on the roof lmao. I'm loving the camera hype

Ooooooooooh I cannot wait to watch the edited version! Also I'm so happy to be caught up on a show to read the reactions to it early on into the show. I'll never get over how lucky I am to have discovered this channel.

Thanks for all your work making that spreadsheet. I'm glad I'm not the only one that realizes what a gift this channel is. Love the reactions so much <3

This show does a fantastic job of showing you the good and the bad of BOTH sides, and although majority of our main characters are Police, it doesn't necessarily want you to root for them, but it doesn't want you to root for the drug dealers either, the only people to root for are the poor citizens of Baltimore that is forced to be caught up in the war. ALL these characters on both sides take some getting used too because they are all so heavily fucked up in many different ways, the only one I remember liking right off the bat was Kima, but after time I grew to love so many of them. Also I'm sure you have figured it out by now but yes, D'Angelo only has one uncle and it's Avon, and yes Avon is the leader and the main guy the cops are trying to bring down.

Lance Reddick was a fucking vengeful Titan in that scene where Daniels dresses down the three doofuses. The man could do so much just by slightly stiffening his back to let you know shit just got real.

TeaDrinker3000

There's one scene in the later portion of the season with Daniels that is so well acted that I genuinely teared up knowing that Reddick is no longer with us. Alongside being stunning looking he had a magnetism to him that derived from his immense talent as an actor.

can someone let me know if the audio is still fast for the full reaction

PIG

Still out of sync for Americans on this one.
