Season 2 set the table for the fantastic season 3 and 4. Kinda like Attack on Titan

This season especially really leans into the feeling of the characters feeling so overwhelmed and isolated in everything. Elliot, Darlene and Angela all are part of the same thing yet completely alone in their struggles and the audience can feel that too with the slight differences to their situations. It creates the frustratingly realistic avoidance and miscommunication, as well as the super tense paranoia

In regards to the background features on the train with Angela and Elliot (those signs) referring to audio etc, is a clue for people to dig deeper for Easter Egg's from the previous episodes, so that sign reflects the opening sequence of S02E05 - when Elliot start's hacking the FBI. agree, i think it does a great job of showing that the original plan, while still a huge achievement, was really quite half-baked and that you can't defeat capitalism by encrypting the data of one massive company. if season 1 was a great, mind-bending self contained story about a vigilante hacker executing a plan, season 2 is about the fallout and a ton of setup for the seasons to come. really everything depends on S2 in my mind. what a good show!
