It's heavily implied from both Korra being so close on the cliff and Aang saying how she was at her lowest point that she was gonna commit suicide because she was so depressed over losing her bending and believing that the world was better off with an Avatar who wasn't only an airbender. And before you question that, keep in mind that only a few prior, we saw the murder/suicide of Amon and Tarlokk

Season two is even better than this lady’s gear up cause it doesn’t slow down the writing for this show especially in the later seasons is fantastic

Also want to point out Amon is a blood bender so he felt tarlock get the glove and explode the ship he knew he was about to die that’s why he cried

I didn’t feel like Korra was in her lowest point because it was so rushed. Korra had a boo-boo, so Aang showed up to make it all better.

I love that you guys love and appreciate Korra. That you embrace her being hot headed and stubborn but don’t let it take away from her being seen as a whole character. She’s not Aang nor is she supposed to be.

Once they establish that they're willing to actually kill characters in this show it really raises the stakes. It only gets better from here.

Please read before watching season 2. Nickelodeon and the writers continued throughout the entire show to have differences of opinion, and Nickelodeon kept making life quite hard for the writers. Nickelodeon kept changing their directions and mind throughout the show. So, it's likely that the writers felt a lot of stress while making this show, and that stress seeped into the show a bit in season 2. Please keep that in mind when you watch Season 2 and get frustrated at moments. It'll pass after some episodes :)

Love your reactions and passion for the series ! Never understood why so many people didn't like Korra. In the end of the episode, I don't think I've seen any reactor pick up on or comment about her going to the cliff to commit suicide. Because of the network they could only heavily imply it. I feel like it was a very important part for her character, and was the main point of her being able to suddenly talk to Aang, and they really weren't able to show it the way they needed to. Great season, looking forward to the next one ! | : ] '

Ya I think her thought process was the world will always need an Avatar, and if she can't be it she'd be preventing the Avatar from existing for the rest of her life unless it's passed down for the next Avatar.

I feel you say that as though you're implying that lot of the ATLA/LOK fandom doesn't allow Korra to be different, stubborn and hot headed. I feel like most people agree that those elements of Korra's character are fine, and actually create a unique character with more realistic attributes. It's just that the show's execution of her character development using those attributes is pretty poor until the later seasons.

Not really because it pays off in season 2-spirit. Hell it leads us to the whole theme of season 2. Not random at all. She hadn't been able to connect with her spirit side and she couldn't go to Avatar state yet because she couldn't air bend.
