I think one of the biggest reasons Skylar sided with Walt is that Hank didn’t approach the situation with any tact. Skylar would have to turn on her husband, potentially get in trouble herself for being an accomplice, and reveal to the world (and her son) her and Walt’s secret. That’s a TERRIFYING thing to do, even if it’s the right thing to do. The way Hank tries to rush into that and sort of takes for granted that she’d be ready and willing to do it freaks her out. I don’t blame Hank because he was really frazzled, but had he been more gentle and less hasty with her situation I think things might have played out differently.

Haha that ending. I'm really curious how far they got / when they could stop themselves from watching more episodes. Wouldn't be surprised if they finished the season at this point.

Also between the first half of the season, when she was so scared of Walt, and the current point, we had an implied time jump in Ep8, after Walt got out of the business and returned to a "normal life". I think this was partly what started to humanize him more (especially in Skyler's eyes) and erode away a tiny bit at his Heisenberg persona. Him talking about turning himself in, felt like Walter talking, not Heisenberg, so there's some of that left in him yet, however deep within, and i think Skyler sees that.

NO SPOILERS HERE: It's important to put Skyler's reaction also into the context that Walt had quit his meth business at this point, and life was returning back to normal. In Ep. 8, when they're all at the dinner table, they even exchange a smile, and she was reminded of the good old days. So, as you said, they have a long history. Hank just shoving a mic in her face without allowing her to think a bit about what to do freaks her out, and her natural impulse is to protect whatever's left of the family. And ALSO, still try to hide the secret from the kids.
