"Zuko is Khaleesi!!" lmaoo Another great episode :3 I love seeing the characters' new interactions with Zuko. Also this one always makes me think about Jong-Jong from season 1, like I bet he would've had a less nihilistic philosophy on firebending if he'd been exposed to the Sun Warrior culture.

(in response to your bit at the end about Korra) the first few episodes of Korra can be a bit jarring after ATLA, but I think it's worth it! My sister even likes it more than ATLA. And yes, it's the same creators and the same world. You should at least try season 1! The seasons are much shorter than ATLA. Anyway love your vids, this was great <3

I can’t wait to see the end with you girls. I am gonna cry.

About Korra: I'll say this up front...it's good. There are things about it I LOVE. LOVE. But there are also things about it that frustrate the hell out of me because of the wasted potential. You will love the new setting. You'll love the music. You'll love the upgraded animation. You'll probably love a few of the characters. There IS a lot to love about it. But there's also a big piece of it that's frustrating because of what they were forced to do and what they CHOSE to do. They make several annoying choices, and it takes away from the overall experience (I think). If Avatar is a 10/10 show, I'd call Korra a 7/10 show. Good, but not "great." It will give you a similar feeling...it takes place in the same world, 70 years later. There will be a great mix of familiarity and new.

Your reaction made me laugh at loud a couple of times! And ATLA is a perfect balance to BB, so it's great that you watch these too at the same time. I relate a lot when you get excited and start to mix up words in English, happens to me all the time when I'm excited. Lola's reaction every time Milena mentions how many episodes left just cracks me up, not gonna lie...

It’s hard to compare the two because Avatar has the one overall arc in which the goal is to defeat the Fire Lord. It’s much easier to understand the story and follow its narrative progression in that case. Also, because the goal is unambiguous the writers try to introduce nuanced ideas about their world through each episode. Whereas Korra deals with several arcs that question the role of the avatar in the world where previously it seemed so clear. While Avatar shows that there’s some shades of gray in it’s world Korra says that there’s actually several shades of gray. Maybe even 50 shades?😂 😂

This is an amazing episode for me personally. We just saw how the fire nation treats history and dancing, key things used for this secrete society. The fire nation lies about its history, therefore no one (besides a small group😉) is taught to draw the fire from the life within, not your rage. Fire is life, it even says that in the episode, that’s why it is such a misunderstood element, because life is complicated. The fire nation also doesn’t dance anymore and the training style they used was dancing with the dragons😍

I don't think they're portraying the entire Fire Nation as evil and hateful, I just think that this philosophy of fire being the source of life instead of just a source of destruction is being hidden from the people of the Fire Nation. Even Jeong Jeong referred to firebending as a "burning curse" and described firebending as destructive, because like everyone else he was never able to learn the true meaning from the dragons. A sign of this is how dancing has been completely banned in the Fire Nation, and yet the truest form of firebending is "The Dancing Dragon". It just shows that the Fire Nation has really fallen out of balance.

Absolutely. I actually like Korra better then ATLA, as long as you realize each season is its' own arc. The real arc of the series is Korra's growth. The series is much less about "a" story and more about trauma. It is more adult and deals with more adult themes, which is easier because they are not tweens/early teens but older teens and eventually young adults. Yeah, Korra is kinda a brat, and I didn't like her at first, but by season 4 her growth feels earned. I really liked that. It kinda requires Korra to be a frustrating and a little unlikable to start off. Even tho ATLA is superior in almost every way, I think Korra digs into the mind. trauma, personal issues, and politics much deeper, and so I learned to enjoy it more. You will also grow to LOVE the characters.

I remember my first time watchin a great show to always look back at love seen your reactions 😂

RJ

remember back in season 1 at the ending of “The Blue Spirit”, Aang asked Zuko if he thought they could be friends one day and Zuko responded by shooting a fireblast at him? They’ve come such a loong way.

RJ

“Zuko was riden” oh God. nobody tell her what that means. let her keep her sweet innocence.

Brandon

I was mistaken. I thought the final episode was about 2 hours (and thus 4 parts), but it is only 1.5 hours long and is only 3 parts. Also, you already mentioned possibly watching Legend of Korra. And you already heard that it's not as good as Avatar: the last airbender, but I just wanted to say that I thought seasons 3 and 4 of Legend of Korra are some of the better seasons. Each season of Legend of Korra is a new villain, and much greater time passes between seasons. I think an entire year or so passes between the end of Season 3 and Season 4. Politics and political conflicts are more complex in Legend of Korra than in Avatar: the last airbender, which I thought was cool. And what I love most about Korra is that by season 4, she has to process some of the trauma from prior seasons, which I really loved.

Technically you have 3 episodes left since the next 2 are a two parter... lol
