I've always chosen to believe that it felt honest from Azula to Zuko because she's a manipulative psychopath. She's anything she needs to be to achieve her aims...and in this case, it's to please her father by conquering the Earth Kingdom and bringing Zuko back. So she'll do anything to accomplish that. She has her own issues to work through and that continues as we go on, but Zuko was always the more "human" of the two of them.

I knew you would be devastated by this episode. I was too when I first saw it. But keep in mind that Zuko is an abused child. He has never wanted anything as bad as his father's love and respect. He has an obsession. Schastlivogo rozhdestva devushki!

I enjoy how much you guys understand the show on your first watch, it took me a few repeats to really get it and appreciate what is being shown on screen and I know it's a bit early but I hope you guys react to The Legend of Korra to see if this trend continues :)

The only thing stopping me from shipping zutara is aang. Aang could've atleast got another love interest beside the obvious katara
