Charge Up-Front Starting From November 1st (Patreon)

Hello! I'd like to inform all my patrons and patrons-to-be that I've been notified by Patreon that I am added to the Charge Up-Front beta.

For those who don't know, Charge Up-Front is a Beta program in Patreon that basically charges my Patrons at the point of pledging. Currently, pledging does not immediately charge my Patrons and it just means your finances will be charged the promised amount at the start of the next month. As you might imagine, this leaves the door open for those who just want to get their pledge rewards and cancel their pledges afterwards before being charged.

During my first month, I actually was able to circumvent this by coming up with my own, somewhat complex payment style. But I no longer apply this style, because I was asking all my patrons to do a couple extra steps with their pledges for their own protection. I didn't appreciate that notion.

Those who already pledge to me will experience no changes. But this concerns my new Patrons to be after this change. It will mean that: You will be charged immediately when you pledge to me. You will be charged AGAIN in the first day of the next month, no matter how late you were at becoming a patron during the current month.

To make things less unfair for those, I will reshuffle and pull back previous pledge rewards immediately when a new month starts. Due to the fact that I'm basically publishing comic works and giving them for ranked pledge rewards of specific amounts of money, there will be times that I will pull back previous comics. As the number of published works increases, keeping the previous posts up would mean a bad idea for those who decided to place pledges earlier in the given year. When I have 3 issues, let's say, it shouldn't be really fair for a new Idol Tier patron to get all 3 issues in one month's worth of pledging, when earlier Idol Tier patrons had to pay much more to get to that point.

Although that might sound bad, it will make it much more fair for those who pledge to me during the month and get charged immediately. In the end, everyone will get their rewards they're entitled to within a given month. Losing 10 or 20 days in a month will not have much meaning. Not to mention it's going to be a much appreciateable prospect just to pay for your pledge, download your content, and undo your pledge afterwards.

This functionality was something I've wanted to have since the start and I am happy that I was seen entitled to it so early in my Patreon life. It will make me breathe easy, and I think it will make things much more fair for my respectable patrons as well. Thank you so much.
