Hi all, I just wanted to show you a bit of the next THE MOON IS THE OCEAN’S BRAIN type game, that is to say, this game will be a bit short and most likely a pretty self-contained “one off” experience like Water Womb World, Discover My Body, etc.

What is the game about? Well, you are communicating with someone over the phone trying to get them to explain their situation in the hopes that you can find them and prevent whatever it is they might be doing. If I were to give a somewhat imprecise but interest-piquing elevator pitch I would say it is an occult hostage negotiation simulator/detective game, except there are no hostages and you are not really a detective.

The above video demonstrates how you will receive information from the person you are seeking (who is amenable to speaking with you at least for the moment). There may also be other characters you can call on to give you information about the principal person of interest in the game. Assembling a body of knowledge will allow you to ask more questions which will lead you closer to your end goal.

The setting is a college campus. You will have access to the floor plans of the building which will help you seek out just where this person of interest is, what they are doing, why they are doing it, etc.

I will have more to tease later. I actually had something else planned (sort of planned, did not actually put too much work into actually realizing it) but this idea hit me pretty fully-formed somewhat recently and I’ve been trying to follow that inspiration and get a good start on it while I can. Resin Of Earth, at least the Patron version, still will probably be what I finish next though, unless I really work myself into a white heat and get this out there. Very excited for this because I think it is sort of a new direction for me at least in terms of some of the complexity of the design ideas I have.

I hope you all are well. Once again please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions/concerns about my stuff/Patreon/whatever, either through Patreon’s messaging system or on Discord. As always, I’m infinitely grateful for your support and very excited to get you more games to play.

Yours In Games,

Yames
