Just wanted to let mac-owning patrons know the good news, recently I've made/saved enough money in order to let me make builds of my games for mac. So just as soon as I can, I will be making new builds of Discover My Body, Water Womb World, maybe even older very obscure things! Of course Family Vacation will be built too, once I am done with it. Speaking of which, that's coming soon too! Just have been doing more writing trying to get the right tone I want, and also trying to clear up some technical issues related to Gamemaker Studio 2 (the primary engine I use to make games) and its functions concerning loading and unloading sprites. The game has so many visual assets/animations/sprites that it is not performing as smoothly on lower end machines as I would like, but I've largely figured out a method to finish this, I just have to implement it.

For instance, the cutscene animation above (showing....something secret...) has 30 frames of images that take up roughly 600x300 pixels each. Every frame is loaded along with the other necessary frames that need to make up the scene and then drawn together for the player. However, because the sprites are generally so large (especially the sprites for each background in each room you can travel to in the game) it takes more time for them to be loaded and then drawn. There a couple ways to make this loading faster, but the way I am trying to do it is to have a larger pool of memory dedicated to images that need to be loaded, basically making them a little more organized when it is time for them to be drawn.

That's kind of a vague and not super detailed explanation, but I've also been trying to think of ways I can let you all in on the process without being boring or longwinded.

I think soon I'm going to try another art tutorial about stylizing video for animations, that's something I've recently been experimenting with OR I might do a tutorial about the way I do sound design/music production for my games. Maybe I'll do another poll???

Thanks so much for your patronage, I really want to emphasize how much I appreciate you all that you have to so much faith in me and my stuff, so much so that you are willing to materially support me. Hope you all are doing well.

Nice! Great to hear I won’t have to emulate windows for these in the near future. Really happy to hear FV is almost done, glad to support and check out whatever you put out!
