What do you enjoy more? 

(Visual Novel as in dialogue/images/audio game about taking decisions and unlocking outcomes.)

visual novels usually dont get finished and require more time. comic pages can be done once a month

I know I’ve seen enough incomplete VNs floating around on itch.io to be soured on the idea.

If there was a clear game design document for beginning - end of a VN, I would be more inclined to consider that

VN's take to long and after a time you start not to care anymore about it.

I like visual novels but it would need to have consistent monthly updates as well as some interesting mechanics. If it's just one of those where the story is fully linear then might as well do a comic. However my problem with comics is that they often just devolve into porn or buff guys with dicks out style and lack any sort of story (i.e. much of the class comics stuff). I'd rather have webcomic style format where you tell actual stories which also happen to have hot sex.
