Designing spooky girl (Patreon)
Content
(spoiler alert!)
Hey everyone,
I hope you are all doing well :)
So this week I started designing the spooky girl that I’ve been talkting about for a while. She will be roaming around the lower deck, and be the key-ingredient for my ‘Scooby-Doo’-type story. But as with each Scooby story, she will not be what she seems!
Now when Keen starts to see her in the dark maze, he will conclude he saw a ghost. But in fact her spieces comes from a sunless planet, and much like fish in the depths of the sea- they adapted to the dark- and are now slightly translucent and emit light in the dark.
And I also imagined those two qualities would make fore some-ehhh... interesting scenes :)
So then this is the look I ended up with.
This is still just a sketch which I have to refine. But there are already a lot of things I like about her, especially her hair. It reminds me a bit of a cloud, or jellyfish, and I hope I can let it move a bit like that. I also imagined she would be very flirty, and move a bit like a dancer. Perhaps she would even strike a lot of dramatic poses during a conversation? Well, I still have to see how much of that I can actually do, but that’s the plan :)
Here you see a few sidesteps I made while sketching. Please note...these are no attemps to make nice sketches, just scribbles to find the right idea :}
First I thought she could maybe wear her hair as a nightgown (1st sketch), or perhaps she could have 4 arms (2nd sketch)? This to make her both more scary at first, and more alien later on. But with 4 arms, I felt she would just get to much ‘extra’s’. And the last sketch shows her hiding in her blanket, before she revealing herself. But I'm not sure if I will keep that idea- perhaps she can use her large hair instead to hide in?
Well, and that’s the spooky girl! I still have to name her, and finish the design. But I like the sketch so far- and I hope you do too ;)
And please let me know if you have suggestions for her (looks , personality, etc.)! I love to hear it.
Well, all the best & have a nice X-mas!
